Comprehensive guide to understanding how of nutrition and lifestyle can change one's health
I have just started reading Paleo Principles, but I can see that it is up to the high standards of Dr. Ballantyne's previous book Paleo Approach which I have read. As another reviewer said, I am reading this a little at a time in order to understand and absorb the information. It is important to know the scientific "why" behind the paleo lifestyle in order to customize it according to one's health issues.Dr. Ballantyne has a rare talent for being able to compile information from numerous research studies and scientific papers, and translate that information to make it understandable for the lay person without "dumbing" it down. My only complaint--it would be easier to read and use if it were a two book set with the recipes and meal plans in the second book.

Don't be intimidated by its size.... This is a terrific reference book, easy to read, you will love it!
Terrific!! I can't stop read it!! I pull my yellow highlighted as soon as I started to read it. I felt that this book was made just for me! Don't be intimidated by the size of this book, it is an easy read even if you are not a scientist. I've been enjoying a lot of the cross references available in all the chapters and pictures that makes this book easily accessible for everyone!!. You can read one chapter at a time in any order. This is an excellent reference book to come back to it again and again. It has answered many questions that I had and clarify other concepts that I did not understand, like the use of HCl and Digestive Enzymes. Sara has made this book so easy to read that she have a lot of italic recommendation on "Easy Paleo Button", "Healthy Quick-Start" (My favorite so far is eat 8 cups of veggies, 2 for breakfast, 3 for lunch and 3 for dinner). She has also made the science interesting with her "Knowledge Bombos" and "Science Simply" in italic and with cute pictures, that even my 11 year old enjoys it!. Thanks Sarah for sharing your knowledge with us!

Dr. Sarah Ballantyne is an authority on the science and she presents the information in a beautiful way for anyone to understand whether you are interested in the science or the practical side. She is a champion for everyone that has ever suffered with mystery illness because she has battled through several. I am so grateful to Dr. Ballantyne for taking a big leap of faith and writing such a comprehensive book. This book will be the #1 reference for the rest of my life as I move forward in my new lifestyle as a recently diagnosed person with celiac disease.

good book
So far what I have read seems solid, and I really like how the book is written. It is easy to understand, and the information in it seems solid. Then why four stars and not five stars? I don't believe in evolution of man from ape, it goes against there being a creator that made humans unique and specific. I do not believe you can evolve into something which can think and reason, from something that cannot, and only acts on instinct. Besides that section, I like the rest of the book and the information it presents. All the information regarding fats, proteins, etc. is well written. I'd buy it again.

You wanna to find out what this Paleo life style or Auto immune protocol is all about? Well this book has everything about those two subjects and much much more. I'm not kidding when I say this book if informative and written in a way everyone can understand. The author breaks down with great detail the science behind Paleo and gives you great easy recipes and detailed food plans. Even breaks down your grocery list and day to day breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack plans. The book is really a text book for Paleo, a one stop shop for all Paleo. I have already tried many recipes in this book and love the pancakes and bone broth the best. I also have already felt better since starting eating more. Not every plan is for everyone so take that into account but If you are looking for something to help with you gut or overall inflammation in your body, you should give this book a try.

For me, Sarah’s superpower lies in her ability to disseminate relevant scientific studies in a way that it makes it easy for lay people (read: non-science types like me!) to understand. Ballantyne makes science easy to understand
I’ve been recommending Sarah Ballantyne’s book The Paleo Approach for years, and will recommend Paleo Principles now. Sarah is masterful at making it easy for everyone to understand the science about health and how our bodies respond to food.This book is, ... well, huge. And bursting with useful, practical information. For anyone interested in using the ‘paleo’ approach to eating for health. If you are a beginner on this road, there is tons of help for you here. It is also a useful resource for long-timers on this path. Plus there are recipes!Note: I have the hardback, not Kindle version.

A great comprehensive Paleo book
This is the comprehensive Paleo science book I have been looking for and was afraid I would never find. I transitioned to Paleo after exhausting all traditional treatment options for carpal tunnel syndrome and some other health issues but still having continuous pain and symptoms. So I began researching and reading the few books I could I find that explained the science behind Paleo. But I still had tons of questions on the science behind why some non-Paleo and also Paleo safe foods affected me and others did not. I am only a few chapters into the book, but it is already giving me the answers I was hoping to find. I have been calling the book a textbook because it is that comprehensive.

paleo textbook and cookbook!
This is a great big book with tonnes of information in it.I’m training to be a nutritional therapist and get a bit fed up with the mainstream text books quoting out of date and misrepresented data in regards to a lot of REAL food.Really good to be able to check in on this text and remind myself I’m not going totally mental 🤣

The best science backed book for paleo on the market.
This book is like a health bible which I constantly refer to. If you really want to understand and empower yourself with the knowledge of how to address your own health issues via nutrition, then this is the only book you'll ever need. It's all science backed, consise and easy to read. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Life changing!
Every household and doctor's office should have and read this book. The book has a wealth of information, some very scientific but other chapters are easier for the layman to understand and follow. Ditch the processed and inflammatory foods and get your health and life back.

Learning and cooking
A bit frustrating there isn't a UK version as lots of names and recommended shops etc are for the US. Very informative. A text book mixed with a recipe book with all the basic kit required listed.

Brilliant comprehensive book
This is a textbook of research and advice regarding nutrition and wellbeing. In my opinion it is a balanced view of the benefits of implementing a paleo lifestyle with the science well explained without being patronising. Would highly recommend!
