Wish I'd have purchased this a long time ago!
I like to sand before decorating / painting walls and have either done this by hand or with a small mouse sander in the past. This sander however is just so efficient, you can cover a lot of area very fast with only one pass and get the finish you desire. Wish that I had this years ago as I would have saved many hours sanding. Being battery powered it's really easy to maneuver and there's no power cable to worry about connected to extension leads etc.I hooked this up to a shop vacuum and the dust is minimal. You need a decent battery, the 5ah battery gets around 40 minutes of run time.Great value for money and a great tool for your collection!

Good DIY Sander
I bought my Ryobi DA Sander March 21 and it has just given up the ghost today (20-8-23) with a smoked motor. I've done alot with this tool over the last couple of years from fibreglass works on my boat, work tops, sanding timber and aluminium all of which has performed very well and achieved a good finish. A plus is you can also connect a Henry hoover nozzle with the connector piece and extraction works extremely well. For 70 odd pounds you can't go wrong, but I wouldn't say it's trade rated for day in day out use. Perfect for jobs around the house and other bits but probably wouldn't survive a building site very long.

Handy little unit
A nice little cordless orbital sander that works a treat provided you’ve brought into the Ryobi system. On that note the one + system for me has worked a treat. Don’t know about you but having a trailing lead laying around and also having to get out and fully unwind an extension lead (for those who don’t know you should always fully unwind an extension lead when using as it will heat up and can easily catch fire I’ve felt it and seen it happen) is a pain. With the improvement in battery tech and better motors cordless tools have become more viable with Ryobi standardising it’s battery and designing the tools to fit around them the whole system is a breeze. The sander is sturdy and solid feeling with a simple hook and loop attachment system for the sanding discs and the three included discs allow you to get started. The simple on off switch gives a satisfying clunk when operated and the tool itself gives a reassuring kick when turned on demonstrating the power. The included dust collector/filter works really well keeping everything clean within reason. All in all a great addition to the system and your tool bag

Quality Is High
Ryobi is a fully accept seen by many as a low end tool maker and, I will concede that some time ago this was the case. However, over the last five or six years they have very noticeably pushed the brand upwards in quality and of course price. I guess that's a basic marketing strategy with battery tools. Once you have a base of users then they are by and large trapped by the battery format. Some years ago when I started my house renovation I bought a bunch of Ryobi stuff because it was relatively cheap and the batteries not bonkers priced. I figured that a few years use and I'd 'upgrade' as they failed.Well, seven ball-busting years later I'm still using the said same drill/drivers and of the three battery power packs I bought initially two are still going strong despite having been near beaten to death and charge literally hundreds of times. I am utterly amazed at how good they have been and because of that have instead of replacing Ryobi instead I have bought more. Much more. And they have become better and better.Which brings me to this palm sized sander which, is absolutely excellent. Really. The plastic despite being having a colour chosen by a blind man is properly high quality with a solid robust feel to it. I suspect it might be PA6 which is a fibre reinforced plastic used by better quality brands.Speaking of which Ryobi is owned by Tecktronic Industries of Hong Kong. Who also own AEG and Milwaukee tools as well. Now, you are not telling me that in their factory they are making three entirely different sets of power tool electro-mechanicals. I've used just about every major brand out there as an engineer and I'm pretty sure that the main difference between my Ryobi and Milwaukee is the colour of the plastic case...Anyway, bottom line is that I honestly think that Ryobi is a genuine alternative to the likes of DeWalt, Milwaukee and Bosch (pro - the DIY range is junk). Not quite up there with Makita but not that far off.Now in use this sander is superb. When comparing it to a mains powered version - I have three others from different manufacturers - this is just as good but has the benefit of no cord. It has loads of power and easily sanded for test purposes a bit of white kiln dried oak I had lying about in my workshop.Noise is lower than my mains powered sanders which is a nice bonus but, most of all the dust collection is better. Properly good for an add on bag type. Of course using a vacuum is even better and the location of the air outlet on this makes fitting and using a vac easy.Overall a superb cordless sander and highly recommended if you are a user of the Ryobi One+ batteries. And a quick reminder that this is a bare tool so factor in another fifty or sixty quid if you don't have any.

Ferocious little sander!
It works very well, and takes a range of sanding pads from a variety of third-party vendors. Dust extraction bag as standard is more for show - you will need at least a vacuum attached to have any effect. Also I was only getting around 10 mins of use with my 2.0AH batteries, you will need at list a 5.0AH battery to get a decent length of sanding time.

Ryobi is a quality
Ryobi is a quality make and this, while not, cheap does a good job. Will be cheaper for you if you have another Ryobi item with a similar battery
