I got my first bottle of 1881 in 2000 at Saphoras on the Champs Elise in Paris. It lasts so long, that a light spray will do you all day. People will walk up to you and ask you what you are wearing long after you can no longer smell it. I used it practically every day since my purchase, and it finally gave up the ghost in 2008. When I got to America, a relative asked me what it was, and when I told him, he said emphatically, "There ain't nothing like that here!" Hard to find, I thought I had found it at fragrances.com, but alas, they were sold out. I took a chance on Amazon, and voila! They had it! It is the only cologne I have ever worn since I first purchased it ten years ago. Of course, there are other great fragrances out there, but there is something about 1881 that sets it apart from all the others. The hint of spice is very nice. Nino Cerruti probably retired just off the money he made on this.

Cerutti 1881 is a light woodsy lavender fragrance with plenty of complexiy so it can be worn during the day well into the evening at informal venues/occasions. It’s at a great price point and safely packaged & delivered. Haven’t had it for a while, glad I got it again (Thanks, Chaps Guide!).

I have been wearing this cologne for many, many years. My body chemistry and Cerruti Image are exactly right for each other. Because the cologne is so unique and because it not available in just any store, and because I'm selfish, when asked over the years what I'm wearing and where did I get it, I usually LIE and provide a different name for it. That way I can keep the smell unique to me (at least among my group of friends and loved ones). With that said, don't buy it, it's terrible and I really don't want anyone else wearing it anyhow.

Primarily soapy and juniper notes. It lasts quite a while (3-5 hours).This scent is not for me. It reminds me of a barbershop or what my Grandpa wears. It isn't bad, per se, but the fragrance landscape has changed quite a bit since the 1970s.
