Simple to use, warms fast
This draws 1850W which is exactly 15 Amps, so it's as powerful as they can get in 110V applications.I use it outdoors with a 12Ga extension cord (be careful not to use thin cheap extension cords with this). One should use a heavy-duty 15 Amp rated cord.It has a fan to keep the base cool. The top on the heating element is separate from the rest of the unit. I thought from the images that the top was a single piece of plastic but no, the element is separate. It does light up red when it's very hot.The commands are easy to use, and works as follows: Press the On button, and then select one of the presets. Once it's on, then, and only then, can use the knob to adjust the setting. There is also a timer that's optional to use.The display shows how many Watts are being consumed, not the temperature.

Works great
Updated reivew on the replacement one: It works great. The legs sit flat. Everything works as expected. The timer goes up to 4 hours. It shuts off at the preset time. It heats up fast. It will keep running to cool itself off once it shuts off, so you know the plate is still hot. I still wouldn't advise touching the plate until it is completely back to room temperature just in case. There is a fast setting and a fryer setting that seem to both go to the maximum temperature so I don't know if they are actually duplicates as mentioned in other posts or if the fast setting actually does heat up faster than the fryer setting. Either way, you can use the dial to turn it up or down. I really like the look of this. The cord is 48 inches (4 feet) and is 3 prong for the United States outlets and is heavy duty. This arrived with the legs not sitting flat so it wobbles back and forth. I returned this one for a replacement. I will redo the review if the new one comes without this defect. It was shipped in the box that the manufacture put it in and so when it arrived the box was bent in and smashed so this could have happened in shipping. Hopefully the new one comes in a box and not just the manufactures box with no protection. It seemed to turn on and heat up fine but without sitting flat its not really usable.

Had to return it/updated
8-7-23 updates: after I returned it and got the refund, the OCTAVO support team reached out to me and apologized for the inconvenience. As a gesture of goodwill, they offered me another one for FREE. The second one was delivered last Wednesday. I have tried it with 5 different cookware with different bottom and they all worked fine with the burner. 1800 Watt is pretty powerful for everything I need to cook. The built-in cooling fan is a bit noisy but works well. after cooking for one hour, the edges, sides and bottom were not hot. The side handles/eyes are very handy. Make it very easy and safe to move/carry around.Original review: After took it out of the box, I tried it with 5 different fry pans, got the E5 error message every single time. The one page user manual pointed me to Solution Center. Wasted 1 hour online, still could not find the online solution center, not even a home page of the manufacturer. Had no more time to waste on it and just returned it .

Works well. 4.3 stars. Read for details.
It has been 2 months so far, and this has been great. I cannot give it 5 stars because that would mean it is perfect. But I could give it 4.3 stars. There were reviews about it not turning off for people. I think that was because it actually does turn off, but there is a cooling fan in it (probably for the electronics) that continues to run for several minutes after it's turned off. That being said, that fan is a bit loud. Not obnoxious, but it's there. It's more like white noise.I question its rated 1800 watts because I can run this on my 20 amp kitchenette circuit at the same time as my toaster oven, and the circuit breaker doesn't pop. I can also run my GE spacemaker 1800 microwave simultaneously and the breaker doesn't pop. I have not tried all three yet. Mathematically, the hot plate and one other item mentioned on the same circuit should blow that breaker. It WILL boil a quart of water. It takes awhile, but it will. It will probably boil more, but patience is required. My 22 year old GE glass top stove has spoiled me and it is faster than average in my opinion. It fries up eggs in an aluminum pan just fine. Again, not as fast as my full size stove, but it does it well. Not much to complain about so far. This is not a high power appliance. And honestly, people would complain about blowing circuit breakers if it was because most of the general public cannot understand why their coffee maker can't be running at the same time, so they may as well fudge the numbers to reduce complaints. An update after I have been using it a couple of years:The fan got noisy, then the noise went away, and then it got noisy again. I took it apart and found the plastic fan shroud to be deformed by heat and then the fan blades would hit it like a baseball card in bicycle spokes. I simply removed a bunch of material from the shroud with my Dremel and now it is quiet again. I've been using it quite regularly and this is the only problem I've had with it.At this rate, I would still buy it again.

This is the hottest one I have had, the other 2 got tossed.
I like a stove top on my counter, it is were I prepare. I cook outside because some dishes stink up the condo. This one will get the wok really hot, or cast iron pan, and keep it hot after you put food in it. It is easier to clean then my glass top stove, it is primary use in my kitchen. I tried induction, coil type. None got the cast iron hot enough for me during cooking . Any pans works, too. 3 months use so far. For as many boil overs and such it is remarkably still clean, compared to what a glass top does. The reason only 4 stars for temp control is because it has 4 pre sets but 2 are the same temp, Fast cook and Fry, at 1800 , the others 1600 and 1400, It would have been nice for a 200 (to low) quickly button.
