Everbuild Black Jack 901 Bitumen Paint – Solvent Based – Black – 1 Litre

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Brilliant for Decking – Seals and Protects Perfectly! I'm currently in the middle of building a deck, and I bought this Everbuild Black Jack 901 Bitumen Paint to seal and protect the deck joists and posts before installation — and honestly, I'm seriously impressed. The coverage is excellent. A single 5L tin went further than expected — it goes on smoothly and dries to a tough, durable coating. It sticks really well to the timber and gives me real peace of mind knowing that the structural parts of my decking are protected from moisture and rot. Especially in the UK where the weather is unpredictable, this is a game changer for long-term durability. I also liked how quickly it dries for a bitumen-based product. It’s thick but manageable, and I was able to get two good coats on without waiting all day. It’s perfect for anyone wanting to do a job properly — especially if you care about the longevity of your project. Highly recommend for anyone working on decking or any timber that will be exposed to the elements. Would definitely buy again and already looking at other Everbuild products to use on future DIY projects.

If you want a liquid mastic that will protect a surface from water ingress, you'll struggle to get better than this stuff. I wanted to waterproof the part of some timber posts which would end up below ground level before they were installed. Although painting the Everbuild Black Jack Bitumen Paint onto rough timber isn't as easy as painting gloss paint, if you just switch off your brain and get on with it, the end result is worth the hassle. Try to keep it off your hands and clothes as it is messy. The consistency is fortunately not golden syrup level but a thick semi liquid which, if applied with a loaded brush, has a good covering power, you need to make sure you've got a ground sheet of sorts to catch the odd drip or have some white spirit handy to clean up the mess. I'm going to try some on my wheel barrow where the paint has flaked off, got to be better than it is at present. I've used other Everbuild products in the past and their Black Jack Thick Mastic sealer for roof repairs or tanking is worth a thought as well. All in all, if you want to waterproof your timber, get some, you won't be disappointed.

Excellent product used a stippling technique in difficult areas but otherwise easy to use.its very smelly tho so keep windows open or good airflow around you.I was in cellar so more difficult.

This is a good product. I use it on the felt of the roof on my garden shed to waterproof as well as around my drain which has a small crack which it seals. Application is easy with a brush as long as you take your time

Good quality product, it's quite a thick paint so you need to work it in well, especially corners, using a fairly short bristle brush. Great coverage, dries relatively quickly given the right weather conditions. Perfect for waterproofing garden shed roofs and corrugated tin roofing sheets. Product came well packaged and very quickly and at a great price.

Messy to use but very effective, I had a small pinhole leak somewhere on my roofing felt, however this was easy to apply with a roller and sealed the leak effectively

Superb delivery and price was £9 cheaper a tin that toolstation! When buying 2 as I did that’s £18 better in my pocket and including delivery. Now this product is a nightmare to paint however a necessity to protect wooden fence posts being drive in for the post n rail fence I am doing. 56 posts painted. The paint is a bitumen type paint so it is thick and gooey and you have to realise you are scarificing your brush so get a cheaper one that you can just throw away when done. Top tip as this is thick and difficult to spread is to get a plastic bowl and fill it with boiling or very hot water and then sit the tin in the water to warm it. This makes the paint runnier and what I did was use an old tin 1/4 full and stood the post in the tin brushing upwards to contain the drips in the tin. When putting the post out it will run for a bit so just old is up for a bit and then move to your drying location. Thick paint gives good protection.

Excellent product, goes on really well, one coat needed due to its thickness, when dry it is very water resistant. Only thing that can be improved on is the courier which claimed delivery was attempted when it wasn't which delayed me getting the job done.

First time user, easy to apply, single layer was all good. Smells really bad. It wasn't that bad to get off my hands. Do suggest gloves.
