Sublime, an absolute joy to use. I’m buying more.
Wow! This item is seriously well made. It says “Made in Germany” on the item, and it shows; As soon as I placed it in my hand I knew I was holding a quality 10 inch tool. Then, of course, came the joy of using it - it easily sliced through tough barbed wire, just like butter, making the process clearing a site of old barbed wire effortless. I bought the 10 inch model as I read somewhere it gives more leverage than the 8 inch. Obviously the 8 inch is more compact, but this 10 inch fits well and is easy to operate in one hand. I’m absolutely ‘blown away’ by this brand which, to be honest, i hadn’t even heard of before. A joy to use, and a quality well engineered tool. Hence why the cost becomes a non-issue as it will last me a lifetime. I now intend buying more from the Knipex product range, as presents for my son and other family members.

Great for cutting through hard upholstery wire 3.5mm thick
Bought these small bolt cutters cut through some hard upholstery wire, 3.5mm thick, where attempts with my hacksaw had failed. I’m a woman with poor hand/grip strength and it took two hands to squeeze enough to cut through the wire. That said, it did cut first time as long as I positioned the wire right at the bottom of the V of the cutting blades. The bottom of the V opens up to approx 4mm expanding to 11mm at the top of the V.Would I recommend them? Yes for small jobs around the home they are lightweight, small in size approx 21cm, of seemingly robust build, comfortable to grip, & most importantly they cut first time. They are costly though and for larger jobs or those requiring a lot of repetitive cutting, I would probably buy larger, more substantial cutters.

Good cutters.
Excellent quality cutter which work well and are very compact. They have been used on old wire netting and small gauge rebar which they took in their stride.

Expensive but Hopefully Worth It
Bought to snip some thick tensile fence wire, which my fencing pliers were struggling with. It still took a bit of a squeeze. But these Knipex cutters made the job a lot easier.Since then I've used them to cut trellis wire, barbed wire and I also find them really useful for cutting the 3mm strimmer wire I use in my strimmer. They go through those last two like snipping thread with a pair of scissors. It almost feels like cheating.I'm not giving the full 5 stars yet as I've not had them long enough to see if they justify the eye-watering Knipex price tag. But I'm hoping they'll live up to their reputation, on that front.

So far, typical Knipex quality.
I like these mini bolt croppers, lots. They are truly pocket sized, they are comfortable in the hand and boy, do they pack a punch. I haven't tried cutting a 12.9 M6 bolt yet, but they are just fine cutting wire, cable and a piece of 15mmx3mm copper strip. High tensile fence wire is no problem. I wouldn't complain if they opened a little wider, but they wouldn't be a one handed operation then. They are fine how they are. Thank you Knipex.

Excellent high quality cutters, but choose a different product for mild steel and iron
These are beautifully made hard steel cutters, which I bought for fencing work (cutting off nail heads, barbed wire, staples and so on) based on an article on Popular Mechanics. However these aren't the right cutters for that job as the HRC64 hardness makes them too brittle with the sorts of nipping and twisting involved in fencing. After snipping a few nail heads off and cutting through fencing staples the tips of the cutters broke off. However, Knipex were incredibly helpful, and sent me a replacement pair of more suitable cutters, their "71 31 200 R" product, which they call the "robust" model and are only hardened to HRC 48. After more than a year those are still going strong, and are perfect for fencing work. However, if you need to cut through hardened piano wire and nails, where you are *only cutting at right angles* to the material, then these 71 41 200 SB cutters should be perfect.

Small but very strong
Nice compact tool. Its size hides its strength. Recommended.
