Can you use a lithium battery pack to power the Headrush mx5?

if it were me i would use 6x 18650 2 packs of 3 to hit 12.5 vdc , then use a 7809 vreg or a dc step down to hit 9 v dc . i have done this in the past no problem with all sorts of digital multi effects

I have read from several people, the pedal is failing after a few months, I just ordered it online (amazon) what happens if, for example, after 4 or 5

Can this be 100% ouput to headphones? I don't have an amp that has an effects loop or a decent speaker
