Interesting locking mechanism
This is a bog standard tape measure, decent 'girth' if you will, and seems to be strong when floating across a wide gap. The one thing that stands out for me at least is the way it locks, instead of your traditional tape where you will be free moving until you push the 'stopper' down stopping the tape from moving to an extent, this tape measure is permanently 'stopped' (you can pull it in/out manually, but it will hold itself otherwise) until you press the release button which will allow the tape to move freely. Interesting design, maybe not something a contractor would be interested in but seems stable enough and should last. My one concern would be the mechanism loosening over time, which may mean the tape becomes unusable in some circumstances.

Good value but not the strongest tape measure in the world
I needed a long tape measure after the builders we had accidentally walked off with mine and the one I had left was too short to go the length of my yard. This 10m Rolson tape measure has an Autolock feature which works in the opposite way to most tape measures. Usually a tape measure draws back in straight away unless locked. However, in this case the tape is locked by default, and only retracts when the big yellow button is pressed. I think this could be a good feature. Unfortunately, the auto-lock is quite weak, and so often the tape slowly slides back in, even without the button pressed. The tape itself is clearly marked in both cm and inches, although it is not as thick as I would choose if I was using it a lot. It doesn't have to extend very far before the tape bends making measuring any longer spans more difficult, and possibly even needing a second person to help. If I was going to be using it a lot I would look for something with a stronger tape.Overall, though, for the price it makes a good occasional use tape measure and I would repeat my purchase in a similar situation.

decent tape measure with automatic "holding" of extended tape
this is the second one I've had. first one was dropped several times by me and eventually broke. This one is exactly the same. I particularly like the button which, by default, keeps the extended tape out till you press it. The button allows the tape to retract in a controlled way. I've had quite a few tapes in my time & the button on this brand works smoothly and allows the tape to retract in a controlled fashion.

Cheap and flimsy
Does what its ment to do obviously but you get what you pay for cheap and flimsy also when retracted it dissappears into the plastic.Massive pain

Good for the price but not the best quality
This tape measure is pretty cheap but you do get what you pay for. If you are going to use it around the house it will be fine but for anything more heavy duty i would order something else. Mine broke after a few weeks but I was using it to measure manhole Chambers.
