Q: It the power charger cable connected to the mirror permantley or is it just a regular mini usb power cable that plugs in to the back?

I believe its a perminate cable you can plug it into the power socket in your car or do as i did and had it wired into the fuse box and the cables hidden away

Q: I usually dip my rear view mirror when driving at night, does this mirror have that facility?

The reversing camera screen is attached to the original rear view mirror so can be adjusted as you did before while driving. You won't see the screen properly when reversing, until you adjust it back.

Q: Does the video mirror need to be plugged into the cigarette lighter at all times or is this just to charge the unit?

Yes the unit must be plugged into cigarette lighter socket the rear transmitter gets power from the reverse light or a separate power source for continuous use but recommended time would be around 15-20mins
