Where Willy Went

A great way to tell kids where babies come from
My little girl who's five had started asking things like, 'Where did I come from' and 'Where was I before I existed'. So I began explaining in my own way about how babies are made - just starting out with the sperm and egg part. Thankfully, she didn't ask at that point how the sperm got the the egg! So I decided it might be time to let someone else explain that in a well thought out manner. Having read all the positive reviews of Where Willy Went, I opted for this and am so glad I did. It is such a sweet story, explained in such a clear, innocent manner (with the sex part alluded to but in a way that allows a parent to give as much or as little added information as they feel appropriate). My only slight quibble with the book (and this is being very pedantic - but is something that my daughter raised) is that it poses the question (after the little girl is born and grows up) where did Willy go? Nobody knows, it says (but goes on to say that, like Willy, the little girl is good at swimming) - this makes it a bit confusing if you're trying to make a child understand that a sperm and egg make up a person. In fact, my daughter said that surely Willy became the little girl. So she got it, but only because I'd previously explained how babies are made, not because of the book making it clear. Other than that though, this is a fantastic little book with great illustrations.

Fun way to talk to young kids
However my son did go to school telling his teacher he was the fastest sperm!

Brilliant - bought for 7 year old, fun and extremely helpful!
I really didn't know how to address my 7 year old daughters questions and I really wish I would have just told her when she was ALOT younger. I had told her how the baby comes out of my belly when she was about 4 years old because she had asked and that was the end of that but I think because I had waited so long with these questions it all got a bit awkward and embarrassing. I bought Hair In Funny Places, Where Willy Went and Mummy Laid An Egg and she read them in that order. We all sat down, me, her daddy and her 15 year old sister and she read the books aloud and giggled and laughed and looked confused all the way through. She then asked tons of questions and we went through the books again and that was that.I honestly don't know how I would have done it without these books, she's asked for further books as she still doesn't understand how the baby grows from nothing and where the baby gets it 'bones and hair' from so she is still a bit confused but loves reading the books as she said that she has learned so much. 5 stars! ---> *****

Had been told by a few people this was a great book for teaching little ones as its used in some schools. A nice book & easy to read, only gave it 4 rather than 5 as I thought it might be a big longer & more descriptive than it was, but a good intro for your little one.

Great way to explain the facts of life to small children
This book is fabulous! My 5 year old started to ask about where babies come from last year when I was pregnant with his baby sister; at that time he was happy with a quick "from mummy's tummy". As more and more mum's at school are having babies he has started to ask again and I felt that I needed something simple and none threatening to help him understand. This book is just the ticket. It is written in language they understand and it is funny. I would definatly recommend this book to anyone struggling with the best way to tell their child the facts of life without scaring them half to death!

So I decided after giving my answer to her that maybe a book made for children on the subject would be a good idea as she loves
My 4 year old has started asking how babies get into tummies and that she thinks mummy and daddy put their tummies together. So I decided after giving my answer to her that maybe a book made for children on the subject would be a good idea as she loves books. This book was excellent. Explains it all in a child friendly way and is quite funny. She is as informed as a 4 year old needs to be and has stopped asking questions on it now as she said "she knows everything she needed to know." I would definitely recommend this book.

Excellent book.
Well done author! Friend was worried it would show where willy went...it is great and explaining everything properly without detail they at the age this book is for don’t necessarily need to know. They might however ask questions and plenty of them are possible form each page of this book!!! If questions are asked they need to be answered and properly...willie definitely goes where he is designed for and yet without actually saying how or where exactly that is ! Very well worth having this book with others and being an adult and explaining everything openly honestly and properly without embarrassing yourself or them about what Mummy and Daddy do together and where etc !

A great introduction to the facts of life
Perfect for younger children - my six year old has just been introduced to this story (though would say it's suitable for ages 3+) as he was asking questions about where babies come from. This book answered all his questions and more besides without giving too much information or being too graphic etc. Love it, and aside from being so very informative it is also a lovely little story that children will want to come back to again and again.
