Catch Me If You Can [DVD]

I do like this film, Hanks and De Caprio's talents shine through in what is an amazing story...if it were true. As facts have come to light in recent years that refute the author's claims of working for the FBI and cons involving being a paediatrician, attorney and airline pilot it takes away some of the film's glamour. Still, ejoyable film if you take all the storyline with a good pinch of salt.

I loved this film. Everything about it. I looked into the story behind it. Like the fabulous White Collar TV series, It's inspired by Frank Abignale. Frank ( with ghost writer? ) wrote his own story some years ago, like the film it is entitled " Catch me if you can". I thought it interesting to find out that his book is a conn in itself. Apparently it goes beyond exaggeration and embellishment to the point where most of the things in it are untrue. He did impersonate a Pan Am pilot in order to cash a check ( or 2?) but he did not clock all those hours in the sky that he claimed. He also lied about working for the Police. He did give talks to Banks about forgery and he pursued this with a fake resume saying he worked for Scotland Yard. In real life, Frank pretended to be a doctor giving physicals to possible stewardesses and this is something at the time that alas didn't go to court. Leonardo diCaprio does not smile in the photos with Frank. Perhaps this is why.

Brilliant film, brilliant actor, well worth watching this film or movie for the Americans out there.
