I really can't fault this product.I bought these for my two and a quarter year old son (important to keep track of the fractions at this age ;-) ) because he'd loved his plastic drum as a baby but broken it by standing on it. He'd also loved the game where we put some Brian May on the stereo and then drew some "drums" and a "guitar" on paper and played along (air guitar and head banging are also a big hit but that's another story).I'm not such a fan of electronic, primary coloured "instruments" (e.g. Leapfrog Learn & Groove Colour Play Drum) which automate the playing of tiny tunes, I'd prefer to introduce George to the real thing so I took the plunge with these bongos.They are great quality, have a natural hide surface and are well constructed from varnished wood. They come with a spanner for tightening/tuning them and also (an unexpected bonus) a decent quality padded carrying case.My son and I love them, they produce an excellent authentic (and non irritating to parental ears) sound and they have a that tactile involvement you are never going to get from their electronic plastic equivalent.And, important to mention, they are great value so that, whilst they live on a shelf to avoid any "accidents", it will not be the end of the world if something happens to them....next stop, ukelele? ;-)

Really nice little set of bongos, buuuuut, the bottom ring is not really secure, will have to glue it down, or else I'll end up slicing my finger open again.Quality control is a bit low on the drum section, but skins themselves are good.

I bought these bongos to add some percussion to my home recordings after growing tired of programming digital drums. I recorded the sound of these bongos with an SM57 microphone and have been very surprised how well they recorded and sounded in my final mix after a little EQing to bring the higher frequencies up. I've received quite a few comments on how good they sound on the tunes I've made so I'm very happy. They did what I needed them to do and definitely offer a lot of bang for your buck if you're looking to try out percussion instruments in your home recordings.

Surprisingly, I did buy another Rock Jam bongo after my poor one star review last year,. Mainly for the great case that came with them. I now own 4 good bongos and these Rock Jam bongos. I actually like playing these Rock Jam bongos in my collection. A big plus is they are light to hold while playing compared to my others. The sound is different. And somedays its a nice contrast to my more expense bongos.I would say, make sure they arrive with all the tensions not broken. MOST IMPORTANT, don't start tightening the skins unless they are really, really slack. There's a risk a tensioner will break off when tightening with the spanner. My bongos arrived ok. It's tempting to tighten, but if the sound is ok, "dont fix it" . These are not high precision bongos.Enjoy them for what they are. Great fun and reasonable sound. If you get on well, then upgade one day.(Here's my one star review last year.....)Congratulations if you receive bongos not broken. Also, be prepared for the tightener rods to break off the rim if you dare to tighten any. Very very weak construction. Such a shame. Great price, terribly made. Why can't they be made better? Case is good.Should be zero stars

Love the bongos but my Mrs hates me know lol quality made

Hi I ordered this product for my nephews birthday and it arrived badly rusted and also full of mould spots . I was unable to gift this to him due the condition of it . This was supposed to be a brand new product .
