Q: Is this OK for a 78 year old. I have slight arthritis in my hands?

I am no medic so please take what I say with a pinch of salt.The Gyro motion of the powerball is not too hectic and therefore should not cause damage to the arthritis. It might be too painful to turn your wrist to get the motion but if you can manage it I would think it would be excellent to get more movement going in the wrist. I suspect it would be worth giving it a go.

It will hit your biceps a little bit, but not enormously so in my experience. It depends on the way you hold your arm when you are rotating it. Generally speaking I find it is very good as a wrist/forearm developer, it can get your triceps a bit more than biceps, but certainly not a primary exercise for the upper arm. Good for loosening/warming up.

Q: does it have a counter

As far as I'm aware, only the "Pro" Powerball series have a counter installed by default. I think you are able to buy a counter separately and install it in a "Regular" model though!
