Great plasma cutter
Did some reviews of plasma cutters after using one on my friends. I didn’t want to spend a lot on a product that I would probably be used a few times a month and happened to come across an advertisement for the arccaptain 50. The reviews on YouTube were very positive, the price was right, so decided to take the plunge. When I received the cutter I was surprised how light and compact it was. I tried it on 110 and it work good until my air compressor kicked on. I had to order an adapter for the 220 since my 220 outlet is the old 3 blade type. Tried on 220 and was surprised on how well it cut. My friend stopped by and was so impressed that he ordered him one to replace his 15yr old cutter. Over all I am very well pleased with it and hopefully it will give me years of service.

Pleasantly surprised, cuts well for the money.
Bought this in a pinch to replace my plasma cutter that’s in for repair. Cuts well, I used my air dryer from my big machine, you’ll need to play with the air volume to get clean cuts.Let’s see how long it last!

We'll see how long it holds up
So far, very impressive.WILL cut 1/4 mild steel with 120psi fairly clean.Has to be run on 220 for best results. On 110 it'll probably steuggle with 12 gauge.Low duty cycle so short cuts. See how long it lasts but pretty unbeatable for the price.

Initial impressions- good
Want to preface this saying that I will update the review with further use. I have used a plasma cutter quite a bit in the past but it’s been 15 years or so so I’m slightly rusty.Initial impressions are good, very happy with how small the unit is compared to the older hypotherm I’ve used in the past. Ordered at noon on Saturday and unit was on my door step at 4:30pm Sunday night. Unboxing and assembly was easy. The pilot arc ring terminal could be slightly smaller to better fit the stud but that’s a very minor complaint. The air hose I didn’t have any difficulty like some, a simple hose barb and quick connect fitting and I was in business. Unit fired right up and cut some dirty 1/4” I had handy to test it with.Used again today to cut out a grave marker for a family pet from 1/4” stainless, very satisfied with the unit so far especially for being all in with spare consumables for around $340 versus the price tags of a comparable Miller unit

Spot on
The description doesn’t exaggerate anything. You’re getting exactly what it’s saying you are which I’m very pleased with. You will need to buy some parts separate in order to hook up air compressor but completely worth it.

Works sometimes, but only on higher amps
Will not run on 110/120v 20amp as advertised. Blows a 110/120v 20amp circuit every time in shop and on generator. If you read the manual, at a min this cut 55amp plasma machine requires 35amps. At that point you should really have a dedicated 220-240v 30-50amp setup. Also the air regulator on this does not work correctly. I have 125psi feeding from the air compressor, regulator set to 50psi. Pull trigger, plasma cutter runs long enough to deplete the 50psi and stops working. Air in compressor still at full pressure. Regulator does not “regulate” the air coming into the machine.

Great value for home use
I've cut 1/8" to 1/2" thick smooth enough you don't need much of a grinder. I've had and used other plasma torches and I actually prefer this pt-31 with the drag tips over the Pilot Arc pt-45 or pt-65. It's easier to see your cut and the consumables are WAY cheaper for the pt-31
