Can pour hot water into the carafe or just colde water?

Personally I wouldn't risk putting hot water in the carafe. It is designed for cooling drinks, although luke warm water might be a safer bet. I only use it for cold drinks and keep it stored in the fridge. Great product though and constantly in use - I hope this helps?

can i use this for juice?

yes you can use it for juice or you can put fresh fruit eg lemon pieces in water - just be prepared to clean maybe using a bottle brush as you won't get your hand inside.. can also be put in the dishwasher

What is the actual diameter of the base of the carafe (1.0 litre)? Different websites give conflicting sizes.

The diameter is 9cm. It goes out the tiniest bit just above the base, but we are talking millimeters.
