book makers delight.
This is a beautifully put together book with many clever ideas for both producing a book and embellishing. I have not yet actually tried any of the projects but I was in the process of putting together a textile journal and due to inexperience, was having difficulty in working out how to actually attach the signatures - the answer was in this book so already it has been of great assistance. It is a pleasure to look through and I am confident it will be a constant source of interest and inspiration in my book making endeavours. This is the second book on bookmaking I have bought and between them, I feel I will be able to progress and produce a reasonable selection of different styles of books. I am very happy to recommend this to anyone with an interest in producing a book of their own either to display their work or to use as a journal or special sketch book - their money will not be wasted.

Excellent Second Stage Book
I have written a review of "Making Books" by the London Centre for Book Arts which I consider a good starting point for learning craft book binding but this book by Alisa Golden is an excellent follow up and well worth getting from the perspective of developing a creative approach to the subject. There is a lot of "paper folding" involved in many of the projects but she does an excellent job in taking a very creative approach to using the skills that you can develop from following along. If strict book binding is what you want then perhaps not the book for you though there is a lot of technical skills included in the text. However if your aim is to learn the craft first then apply it creatively, using this as a second book to help you along your way, this is an excellent and fun choice.

A must-have resource book for anyone interested on making handmade books.
This book has very clear instructions and diagrams explaining many tricky points. An exceedingly broad spectrum of all conceivable ways to assemble a book is covered. This is rapidly becoming my go-to source for ideas and solutions. It is the main reason for a growing arsenal of hand made books in my house and the source of many more that I have gifted to select friends.

To complicated
Nice book but it to complicated. For a complete beginner it's just to wordy and instructions make no sense

Informative
I've only had a quick look so far but it is apparent that this book includes lots of how-to as well as a great variety of designs and styles. I particularly like the artist statements which draw me past the base technique and open my eyes to the possibilities of "books as art" beyond simply making a plain journal with a hand binding. Looking forward to learning this new craft!
