Puyo-puyo type puzzle game where the goal is to unearth treasure. An animated Cleopatra does really weird stuff on the side board as you play.

An Old School Puzzler from the 90's
Cleopatra's Fortune is a 2D puzzle game which was originally released for the arcades around 1996. The game features colorful sprites with goofy and cute looking characters. The PS1 version is an accurate translation of the arcade game with additional modes of play(ATTACK and MYSTERY). This type of puzzle game was fairly common in arcades during the 90's. It is basically a variation of Tetris, with falling blocks and 'Egyptian' themed artifacts. And like many of the puzzle games at the time, your main goal is to create large chain effects in order to clear the screen(or defeat your opponent). The game-play is fun and addicting. This game was released for the Playstation in 2001, at a time when Sony was more lenient about the type of games being put out for their system(you rarely saw this type of game in the early to mid part of PS1's lifespan).Obviously at this point this game is only for a very limited audience. But if you still enjoy these old-school puzzlers from the 90's, you might want to give this game a try.

Accurate representation of the arcade game from Taito
While not an exact carbon copy of the game from the arcade the play mechanics are the same and introduces different modes of play which make the game more challenging. Have to agree with the other review about the kinds of games Sony allowed back them, I know that Sony had a fit over 2D games on it's system in the USA but relaxed the rules later in its lifespan. Could be as addicting as Tetris as I played quite a few games already. But still can't clear anything past level 15 ~17
