Excellent sound quality...
It's small, compact, silver, and it's lovely!Very well featured with DAB/DAB+ radio, Bluetooth (at last!), and a very good quality, well performing CD player. It has decent connectivity with an analogue RCA Phono input, and two optical SPDIF inputs, a subwoofer output, and good, high quality loudspeaker binding posts. It goes FAR louder than you'd imagine from the modest spec, however, it's a big powerful and accurate loud, rather than a harsh and brash loud. The sound/tonal quality is easily adjusted from tone controls, bass-boost, and optimisation for Denon's own speakers; all done from the remote control, which is rather on the large side; a little bulky, however, it is well and logically laid out. It's Denon, so you expect a quality product, and this is just what you do get.Looks lovely, sounds excellent, and is easy to use. The Bluetooth works like a charm with my iPhone/iPad/MacBook Pro, and the optical inputs are very fast, and when one is connected to an optical-out on a TV, there's no discernible audio-lag - which is nice - and the DAC behind it sounds excellent when playing movies or CDs from UHD Sony Blu-ray player....The analogue input works perfectly well if connected to a CD player (with no digital outputs), cassette deck, or turntable/phono preamp, and the DAB radio has very strong reception, even just using the supplied wire ribbon aerial. So overall, if you're looking for a high quality all-in-one small form-factor Hi-Fi system at a decent price, and which sounds Very high quality, then what are you waiting for? Just buy one of these..... :-)

Denon’s speciality
Bought the M41 as a replacement for my old M38 not because the old one of many years failed but because I wanted Bluetooth and optical input. The new unit has the benefit of several generations over my old one (which is still very good at what it does). Clear improvement besides the Bluetooth and optical input is that you can control the volume to a much finer level. The old one had that annoying issue of one setting being slightly too loud and the one below slightly too quiet, this new one is much better in this regard. It’s also much better at having equal volume in both speakers at lower volume level which some amps can suffer from.I am not using the recommended Denon speakers currently so I can’t comment on those but it drives my existing ones with no issue and sounds head and shoulders above smart speakers in terms of clarity.I think I prefer the design too to the old one as it’s less cluttered, although I miss the usb socket as this allowed people to easily swap music between phones at parties. The Bluetooth however works seamlessly so in reality not much need for it anymore. In addition the back of the unit is less cluttered too combining things like Ariel outputs.Summary: a great little unit that does everything you’d need it too from a company that specialises in this sort of thing. What’s not to like?

Its great
Refurbed the front room and contemplated re-introducing my old but faithfull hifi system relegated to the loft in recent years. Too many bits and the new room wanted something minimal but it sounded great. So I go one of these covering amp/cd/tuner duties and with built in bluetooth. 2 optical inputs allowing hook up with big telly and other bits and subwoofer out. A neat solution, Rotel and other bits back in the loft.I was using it with my old Celestion DL4s but decided to try out a pair of Wharfdale 9.1 diamonds. Great combo and an improvement on the 30 year old analog stuff. Added a Whardale subwoofer for good measure and now I'm terrorising my neighbourhood with loud high quality audio transmissions.

Great product - just a couple of gripes
I purchased a Denon RDCM41DAB to replace a Denon RCD-M40DAB that I had bought six years ago and for which the power supply had failed. The RDCM41DAB appears to be an updated model of the earlier RCD-M40DAB but with Bluetooth replacing the USB port. It's a very good product - which is why I opted to replace effectively like-for-like. The sound quality is excellent and certainly good enough for me. I can also use my turntable through the aux input and get better TV sound using an optical cable.Bluetooth also works well and the sound quality appears to be the same as with a CD. One gripe, I had to go through the pairing process again after my wife used it with her phone.Otherwise, it also shares with the RCD-M40DAB the oddity of having a 50 ohm aerial input impedance rather than the domestic 75 ohm standard. The supplied indoor aerial ain't that good in a fringe area for DAB (when is DAB not in a fringe area...) and I have a DAB dipole on the same pole as the TV and FM aerials. Of course these are all 75 ohm impedance. It is possible to just connect a 75 ohm cable to a 50 ohm input (the connector is a standard F connector) but there will always be some power loss. For us it works but if we were in even further from the transmitter - and only just down the hill from us DAB drops out - the impedance mis-match may have made a difference. I wonder why Denon think it's a good idea to go with 50 ohm. For me it made the difference between 4 and 5 stars.

So good this is the third Denon of this model I've purchased for family or friends.
Some 7-8 years ago I selected this tuner/amp for a next-door neighbour. A few years later my eldest son bought one and last month I replaced my all-singing/all dancing vinyl/cassette/CD/mini-CD set-up by kit I can site next to my chair. Now I can enjoy the previously mentioned media plus FM, DAB and DAB+ without having to get up to attend the"hi-fi" rack! Certainly I have had to do without my recorders but the streamed DAB stations easily fill any gaps in content.Just one small negative: The latest model came with only a User Manual on CD making printing the owners job. Otherwise this little piece of kit is well built,.well specified and is reliable. Oh, and VERY GOOD value for money.
