Can this scan over clear bags?

If the barcode is attached on the clear bags, the scanner could recognize it. However, if the barcode is covered by the clear bags which is over 1mm, maybe the scanner could not recognize it.

What is the maximum focal distance of this scanner? How far from a large barcode is it supposed to be able to read?

For your information, the focal distance is 4~40cm.

I cant seem to get this to work with vend and ios. the carriage return does not seem to work as desired. does this support ios mode?

Can the scanner and the keyboard work at the same time on an Android tablet?

Yes, you could try the steps to open the virtual keyboard. For Android devices: Language and Input> Android 7.0 and later-select physical keyboard>show virtual keyboard Android 6.0 and earlier-select current keyboard>hardware(show input method) For IOS devices: long press the scan button.
