Yes the clock does chime every hour. Its a recorded battery operated chime rather than being mechanical. If you are looking for a quality clock for a reasonable price this is perfect.

Q: How do you set time with correct number of chimes?

set clock to 0615 am before fitting batteries then adjust clock to correct time, press button on back also allows number of chimes to be reset

You need 2 lots of batteries, 1 for clock and one for chime. The rest is easy
