Works great. No reason to spend more. Many digital ones are $200 and they are no more accurate. You'll enjoy it. It's like the old days of kaleidoscopes if you were born at least 1973 or earlier cause I had one and so did every household. This is real fun to point toward a light source and get a reading. This device measures the sugar content of any liquid that you drink. I bought it to measure my fermented water kefir. It’s easy to use and remarkable accurate!

I tested this by creating various solutions of sugar and water. at a 5% by weight solution, the Brix reading showed exactly 5% on the device. However, at a 15% solution, the device only showed about 13.75%. So it seems accurate at lower percentages but not as accurate at higher. Still, for the price I think this is a great value. You can always test it at a few different percentages of sugar solution and adjust accordingly.
