OK JAANU (AUDIO COMPACT DISC)

A.R.Raham has always shown, ever since his very first recordings, his masterly ability to mix the tracks, to balance sounds, painting the inner space of his listeners with elegant lines, colours, shades. Calibrating always what should be in the fore ground and what, instead must be nearly hidden in the background. Ok Janoo is another perfect CD. Smooth, rich in texture , flowing melodies and , as I said , everything so naturally and ,apparently effortlessly, balanced. Every track a deep pleasure. The last one , The Humma song , allowed me do an instructive comparison between the original version (from Bombay, written in 1984) and this latest one. This one is rich, sophisticated, multilayered, impeccable. The original 1984 version was much more rough, simple, poorer, rustic in a more popular taste. But it had something extraordinary, missing instead, in this recent version : in had joyful spontaneity, real, honest indian fun.But we know that growing means transforming our past. Adapting it to our new experiences. But what we transformed is no more here and now. But , permit me, this nostalgic touch of regret….Thank you , Mr Raham. You’ve been a constant musical Companion from the beginning of your creativity. And you still are. Caring , generous and always in love with harmony.(But, I guess, that’s what , at its root, Tasawuf is all about..)
