Well made and good design
Well made and good design. Planted around 100 bulbs shortly after it arrived and couldn’t have been easier. Has the feel of something that’ll last a long time.

Good tool and easy to use
I did read the reviews before buying this. True that in clay soil, it is tough to use....but in wet clay soil...it can be used! Yes the soil is tough, but lean on to this and it can be twisted as you push down...it has not broken....and the soil is lifted out. Put in bulb and release the soil back on top. Fab!This is what I wanted it for....in the grass it was more tricky, and true a trowel did the job better, so gave 4 stars and not 5. However, worth the cost for my boarders and ease of putting in my replenished stock of bulbs.

Lifts out muck for planting
My needs was made Hole for plants. Not bulbs. Many many plants. Have used this before. When moved house got lost. Very happy with the performance. Advice clean it up ASAP after use. I use dwd40. Get muck off then oil it up. Then dry it. Ready for next use.

It's ok but not really effective in medium clay soil
Well made but even in v wet low to hedium clay soil it struggles.Have to put a lot of force down on it and jiggle it left and right, manage to get a bit of soil 1inch out then do bit more and hopefully get hug more than 1inch. and carry on until get full 10cm depth required for bulbs.Only once or twice in slightly softer more crumbly soil I got 6inch max out of soil. Then the soil regardless gets stuck and have to bang it a lot to get the soil out. Or hit with a small shovel/ spade.Only real way I could get 10inch out of the soil in one go is to use a proper long handle bulb planter or hole digger. This isn't easy to use but it can just about do the job in soil which is clayish. If you have good quality crumbly soil it'll do what it is designed for. It can't really cope v well with clay.Would I buy again? Probably not. But it does make it slightly easier than simply digging.

Not quite as strong as expected
I got the impression that this would be heavier duty than it is. It's better than some of the really cheap ones, but not by much. It had difficulty going into my garden surface to any depth and ended up using a trowel for some of my bulbs. It's certainly not the worst out there - but the metal could do with being a bit thicker.
