Q: Will this connect up to a Raymarine C80 plotter and overlay onto the screen?

The outputs from the HP-33A are RS-232. Complete NEMA 0183 'sentences' are available giving position, and AIS information. It should be possible, BUT I have attached one to my radio to output just position data. It so far does not work. I am going to have another look tomorrow and check protocols etc. I have checked the wiring carefully (only two wires needed). So it should work if your plotter accepts NEMA protocol, which it should.

Q: Can I connect this to a laptop?

There is no possibility for direct connection (for example, USB), The device has NMEA data output only, so If your laptop has NMEA data Adapter, then theoretically it should be possible to connect.

Q: Can anyone advise what the uk warranty is on this product and if faulty whether they are dealt with via uk or china?

I should contact the seller. If bought via Amazon they should be able to help. Warranty should be at least 1 year

I bought my antenna from Force 4 Chandlery, who offer a number of AIS antennas. Although they are VHF, AIS operates in a slightly different frequency band than VHF radio. I have put my antenna on my main mast, because I my VHF radio antenna on my mizzen mast. If you only have one mast and that already has a VHF radio antenna on it, you could have a whip antenna on your pushpit. The antenna is connected to the back of the AIS with an appropriate coax connector. This should be soldered to the coax, although I think non-solder connectors are available. I have been using my Matsutec with great success. It is well worth the money and is great peace of mind when you are in shipping lanes, especially when the visibility is poor. Hope this helps.
