A real Gem of a buy - Highly Recommended
You would never imagine the amount of joy that this simple block of plaster with a few crystals buried inside it has given to my 7 year old prince charming. Every time he discovered a new 'gem' in the block he screamed with joy and excitement and I couldn't resist not loving every moment of it. If your child shows any interest in gems or mining then this is most certainly the gift for him/her. Of all teh presents he received for his birthday and Xmas this one was by far the most enjoyed and celebrated. Seriously considering buying another one...My only gripe is that the little gem satchel that is provided with the pack is a wee bit tight for the 8 gems that need to fit into it. Come on fellas, you are making a serious profit on this product and 3p more spend on making that gem bag a little bigger will not affect the bottom line will it now? However, for the person who came i up with this idea I give you an unrestricted 10/10. Although the concept seems simple and perhaps even boring, it is thrilling for the little ones who think they are digging out real valuable gems. My little man now wants to be an archaeologist!!!

Lots of fun and digging
Perfect gift for small paleontologists, Dino fans, gem treasure hunters! Small block and loads of fun for couple of hours. Keep in mind it's quite messy, good to work on it outside or even to wear a COVID type mask! But it was really great 👍

Boxing Day fun
I gave this to my 8 year old son for Christmas and he had great fun with it on Boxing Day. He mined 13 crystals out of the plaster block and hacked and bashed away at it with great determination and glee. He completed it in a couple of hours so it is not a toy with longevity but he has carefully kept his 13 crystals, 6 of which were amethysts, as a prized collection. It came with a booklet showing the crystals and their names and there was value in identifying the crystals as they emerged from their plaster rock. Make sure to do the work in an easily cleanable area as the disintegrating plaster is a bit messy, but that was another bonus as far as my 8 year old was concerned. This is a great one-off toy and I felt it was worth the money for what it was and the enjoyment it gave.

Better than Expected
To be honest this was bought as a last minute addition to my daughters other birthday presents. Given some of the horrific reviews on other Science Museum branded products I wasn't expecting a great deal. However I must admit to being pleasantly surprised. The kit came with all the necessary implements to 'mine' your crystals, my only critism here is that the saw did blunt towards the end of the project but everything else functioned well. Overall the quality was good and the cards to display your crystals was a nice touch.I was expecting the block containing the gems to be rather easy to break making it too easy to collect the crystals, however this wasn't the case, my 8 year old daughter was kept amused for several hours and enjoyed finally mounting and displaying what she had found.Overall I think this was an excellent purchase and good value.

A fun kit but the results aren’t the best
My 7 year old was really excited to make these crystals, the process is a bit of a faff but nothing too complex. He had fun with it but the results aren’t like the box. The tree crystal was a bit of a flop- definitely not as full looking as the box shows, the blue crystal was great but as you can see, it grew sideways rather than upright so it doesn’t actually stand up. Still, a fun piece nonetheless

Entertaining game!
Bought for my kids 7 and 8. Boy and girl. They loved it.The toy come as a block of plaster that the kids have to hammer (with the included plastic tool) to find the stones. There is a leaflet that helps you identifying the stones. There is also a brush and a small lense to inspect the findings! My kids found 12 stones and they were thrilled. It kept them occupied for a good few hours. It makes a lot of dust so it is worth being prepared before you start digging. It also has a cardboard to display the stone and a small bag big enough to store some of the stones.

Load of rubbish
Don’t waste your money. The only good one is the tree but it’s very fragile until it dries. The moon stone and the blue didn’t grow anything after 2 weeks so it went in the bin. Complete asteroids of money and one very disappointed birthday boy. Get a crystal kit instead. Not worth 50p imo
