A fun, modern train set
A little pricey for a simple round train track, but after setting it up I feel the price is a lot more justified. It's got some smart features like stopping at the crossing if the bridge is down or continuing onwards if it's open. It also plays sounds for various scenarios and your own sounds can be recorded. It's definitely a step above your average wooden train block set although more track pieces would have been nice. The parts included are all solid blocks. There are a few plastic bits but they feel like good quality and not too weak. The gates bend slightly under pressure but don't feel like they'll snap by mistake. The wooden track pieces have a smooth finish to them and no splinters.

An enjoyable and fun set to play with.
It operates on batteries and moves on most surfaces thanks to the plastic wheels. It has a magnetic connection on the back, so it can be combined with different train wagons. But the most important feature was the sounds it made. You can record your own voice. and you can press the button and listen. It also has its own train sounds. The rails in the set are compatible with the other rails. Thanks to magnetic fields, the train stops and its horn works.

Brio has a good track record of being used in primary schools and nurseries so should be durable.
The media could not be loaded. Quite an expensive train set but Brio is used in lot of primary and nursery schools so hopefully the quality is there with this set. Although it does incorporate plastic in the construction there is a lot of wooden elements which should prove durable. It is a simple oval track but it is enough to engage the little one for a while, the fact that you can record phrases or your own noise onto the train and have it triggered by one of the action bridges adds to the fun. I do have to say that getting the two batteries in correctly is probably the biggest challenge! The battery compartment lid is screwed on as you would expect with a toy and has a small image of the batteries on the lid but looking at it it does not really give a clue which way they should be inserted, fortunately the instruction leaflet has a clearer picture showing this. I don't think you can do any harm getting them the wrong way round it just will not work! The instructions describe the button functions as well, such as pressing and holding the red button to record, using the crossing gates to trigger noises, what the action tunnels do etc. There is a also a Brio app that uses Bluetooth to control the train functions, note the track features such as the action bridges override the app controls. Not really sure how much the app brings to the party but I guess nowadays you have to have an app! The set offers simple fun for younger children and the adults they are in charge of!

Great train Set For 3yrs Up
The media could not be loaded. Great train set and very easy to set up, takes two AAA batteries and works really well. Great set to add to with the other range BRIO World Smart Tech do.

A small train track with some smart features
The media could not be loaded. The train track that’s provided in this set is a quite small, and a simple oval in shape. The track is a mix of wooden pieces, as well as some plastic pieces too.The train itself is quite weighty, and requires two AAA batteries (not included). Installing the batteries was fiddly, and it was a little frustrating trying to get the train to work. There are two settings for the trains movement (forwards and reverse), and the train beeps as it reverses, like a truck. The red button is for recording your own train noise, which we had great fun trying different sounds out.The “smart” gates each contain a chip, which clearly interacts with the train as it passes underneath. The orange gate will play the noise you record back to you as the train goes underneath.I quite like this set, but for the price it’s listed (£60 at the time of review) I’d expect a bit more track to give a few different track designs possible.

A more modern Brio set but still built to last
This set is built to the standard you would expect from Brio with easy to assemble parts for small hands. It does contain more modern elements made from plastic with electronics and sounds etc to bring it a bit more up to date but it is still essentially the classic Brio track.Brio stuff is expensive but it is absolutely bulletproof and will withstand any punishment that kids can throw at it and will outlast most other toys.
