A Great Starter Watch for Little Learners!
Having recently picked up the Timex Time Machines Kids 29mm Elastic Fabric Watch (TW7C77100) from Amazon UK, I'm genuinely impressed with its suitability for young children learning to tell time. This watch strikes a fantastic balance between being fun, functional, and durable enough to withstand the rigours of daily kid-life.Design and Comfort (5/5 Stars):The 29mm case size is perfect for smaller wrists – not too bulky, but large enough for easy readability. The elastic fabric strap is a real winner here. It's incredibly comfortable, easy for kids to put on and take off themselves (no fiddly buckles!), and it stretches slightly to accommodate growth. The "Time Machines" theme is appealing without being overly childish, and the clear, bold numbers on the dial are excellent for time-telling practice.Readability and Learning (5/5 Stars):This is where the Timex truly shines. The dial features clear hour and minute markers, with distinct colours for hours and minutes, which is invaluable for helping children grasp the concept of time. The hands are well-defined, making it easy for little ones to distinguish between them. It’s designed specifically with learning in mind, and it shows.Durability (4/5 Stars):Kids' watches need to be tough, and this Timex holds up well. The fabric strap is resilient, and the case seems robust enough to handle the inevitable bumps and knocks. While it's not designed for deep-sea diving, its splash resistance is sufficient for everyday spills and handwashing, which is a practical feature for a child's watch. It's not indestructible, but it's certainly built for active youngsters.Ease of Use (5/5 Stars):Beyond the easy-on-easy-off strap, setting the time is straightforward, and the quartz movement ensures accurate timekeeping without any fuss. It’s a simple, no-frills watch, which is exactly what you want for a child's first timepiece.Value for Money (5/5 Stars):Given its quality, durability, and thoughtful design for young learners, this watch offers excellent value for its price point. It’s an investment in helping your child develop an essential life skill.Overall Impression:The Timex Time Machines Kids 29mm Elastic Fabric Watch is a highly recommended purchase for parents looking for a reliable, comfortable, and educationally sound watch for their children. It beautifully combines child-friendly features with the quality you expect from Timex. My child loves wearing it, and I appreciate how much it aids their time-telling journey.Pros:Comfortable and easy-to-use elastic fabric strapExcellent readability for learning to tell timeDurable design suitable for active kidsGood value for moneyAttractive "Time Machines" themeCons:Splash resistant, but not suitable for swimming (common for kids' watches at this price point)If you're on the fence about a first watch for your child, the Timex Time Machines TW7C77100 is a fantastic choice that won't disappoint.

Don’t like the strap!
The watch itself it fine and has a clear easy to read face, however I’m not particularly happy with the design of the strap, which is annoying as it’s one of the reasons I bought this watch in the first place. I thought it would be good as it’s elasticated, but it’s difficult to adjust as you have to pull the end of the strap tight from the inside (when it’s on) and even then it’s won’t seem to fit snug in my grandson’s wrist and keeps coming loose! It’s also prone to coming undone if it’s pulled a bit too enthusiastically. A little bit of Velcro would have been better for securing the strap in place rather than the dodgy/flimsy catch that’s on it. Honestly, who designs these things!! I’d have expected better from a brand as well known as Timex. So yeah, while the watch face is good, I’ll be looking to replace the strap asap. 😠

Timex time teacher watch
A great 1st watch. Lovely design choices, not too big a face and great that can alter the strap then just pull on and off - it even fits my exceptionally small 5 year old and she loves it. The 5,10,15 etc minute numbers could be clearer as she does not notice them and the decoration (in this case a flower) that moves with the second hand is distracting and hides some of the numbers so seems a strange detail to add. The face has got a little scratched and so could be tougher plastic but overall I am very pleased with it and would recommend the product as the best I have seen for youngsters in the first stages of learning to tell the time.

Great little watch
Purchased for my military loving 10 year old. He absolutely loves it and wears it daily. The moving helicopter is a great idea and perfect for military loving kids! It seems to be keeping good time and the elasticated strap is comfortable on little wrists. Overall very happy with this purchase. Not the cheapest watch for children but I would say worth the extra.

You won't regret it
I got this for my 7 year old son as he was refusing to learn telling the time using books/videos/toys. I got him to to choose from a number of options (colours+prints). He chose the football one where second hand in a football that just 'floats' as there is no visible hand supporting it. So that's an element of fun. It looks well-made and the elastic band makes it easy for children to just take it off and put it back on like a rubber band. He has learned how to tell the time in just 2 days and has thanked me for buying him this watch. Highly recommended!

Good watch, no backlight
Overall a great 1st watch. Band will fray over time, but has stood up so far. Numbers make it a good teaching tool. Main gripe is that in the specifications it says "Back Light" under "special features." That's part of the reason I bought it. It does not have a back light.
