Genius idea and really easy to use
I saw Rocketbooks a while ago, but felt they were quite overpriced, but as I kept coming back to look every couple of weeks I decided to just go ahead and get one.Unfortunately, the one I chose wasn't ideal - I found a cheap one on Amazon, but hadn't realised it was dotted rather than lined - no bother. I'll get to test them out and see how I like the idea of easily uploading scans and if I love them enough I may decide to get a lined one later (or I may find that the dotted is sufficient).Personally, I think it would've been better to have had half lined/half dotted (I don't know if they make a mixed book) but 18 pages is more than enough for what I have planned.I'd already set the app up in anticipation of the book arriving... selecting to have my work email, my home email (both set with OCR transcribing) and then my iCloud and One Drive destinations ready to go (leaving me with 3 further options to send to later).Once the book arrived I removed the Frixion Pen, the cleaning cloth and the book and wrote a test page. The pen doesn't write as "nicely" as it would on paper. The smooth coating of the Rocketbook pages will take a little getting used to, and I wasn't hugely impressed with the Frixion pen at first, but I imagine that will come with time.I'd read that by writing a title enclosed with a double # ( eg ## Title Name ##) automatically named your note, so you didn't have to rename the file once it was generated, so figured I would get into the habit of that straight away. So, once I had something written down, and I'd popped a cross on my preferred destination icon at the bottom I scanned it... and WOW!!!The whole thing was so smooth and natural and painless that I was immediately taken with this notepad. It was kind of what I expected, but even smoother and easy to use.My handwritten note arrived in my email box, with a transcribed copy embedded into the email (so I have the option of just copy/paste it as needed, rather than subject anyone to my shoddy handwriting).Any shortcomings with the smoothness of the paper and the pen itself will be long forgotten.I had expected that drywipe pens would work, but a quick search online indicates that they do not.Wiping the Frixion ink with a dab of water cleans it nicely, but apparently the surface of the page can be destroyed by harsher things, such as rubbing alcohol, and a dry wipe marker apparently doesn't just dry wipe (although I may try this myself later). For now, I'm just going to stick to my notepad and enjoy using it the proper way.Highly recommended for anyone who takes a lot of notes and needs a very easy way to send them to a cloud destination.

Inside good, outside really bad - at first
I purchased this product a year ago and I've used it on a regular basis during that year so I believe I am now in a position to post a review. The pages inside the notebook are a little plastic like but not to an off putting degree. It's sort of what I expected, a non-porous surface. I like the grid marked on each page which I think is of some assistance when writing or drawing. The grid is visible but not distracting. The app has improved during my use and is simple to use and does exactly what it should. Pages get uploaded to cloud storage or sent via email, whatever your preferences, without a hitch. When you have uploaded or finished with a page, it's a simple job to clean it with a damp cloth. Once it's dried, a bit of dry tissue can speed up the job if you're in a hurry, you're ready to go again. All good so far.Now the bad news.During the life of the notebook, a year so far, the covers, in particular the front, have become distorted. They are now far from flat, each has a definite curve. I have tried bending the covers back, I have tried pressing the covers flat with heavy weights for prolonged periods. Nothing seems to work because, sooner rather than later, the covers are curved just as they were before. It's a shame because other than that issue I was very happy with the product. In all honesty, I am unable to recommend this notebook because it's become a pain in the bum.UPDATE: The seller has contacted me. Apparently there have been a certain number of notebooks from one production run which had issues with the covers curling. They have promised to provide me with another notepad. That's certainly increased the customer service kudos. I've updated my rating from 1 star to 2 stars. I will update again when and if I receive the new notepad.UPDATE 2: Well the book didn't turn up despite the promise. I waited a month. In a final move towards completion I sent them an email to remind them of their promise. Hey presto, a few days later a new notebook arrives at my office. So far so good, no unwanted flexing and bending and everything seems to be in order. My final verdict.I am now in a position to recommend the product on the basis that the first book was an isolated manufacturing blip.As for customer service it seems a bit hot and cold but we got there in the end.
