Surprisingly Amazing
I thought no way can this work, it just looks like a rectangular block of shiny metal. I had no clue how it was supposed to work but searched for an instructional video. When I used it and realised that it is the hardness of the metal block that causes the sharpening and I felt the bite as dragged it over the blade (a bit like peeling a potato) I saw immediate results and it took only about half a dozen passes to show fantastic results. I use it at an angle on the angled edge of the blade to be sharpened and then I use it flat on the back of the blade to be sharpened in order to de-burr the freshly sharpened blade.Note, that new, the metal block on this sharpener is not itself sharp to touch, on the contrary it is very smooth and is so hard I expect it will stay this way.I don't bother with the oil, if it came out of the handle it would cause a right mess.I would prefer if the blade went all the way to the tip of the sharpener so I could get it right in to the cutting angle of a pair of scissors or secateurs easier without having to try different positions.I restored a hand operated grass cutter with this and it was well worth it. They are about 20 years old! I quickly sharpened some old secateurs with it just before I needed them as it is lightweight and can be carried about.

Brilliant little sharpener
A simple tungsten carbide sharpener. Just use a few firm strokes along the cutting edge of shears and secateurs and what an amazing improvement in cutting prey. A bargain

Reasonable price, I'm happy with this product
I wasn't 100% sure if I'd made the right choice having bought this product at first but after I used it a couple of times and I'd got the technique right I decided that I had made the right choice. It's small and handy and well designed, ergonomically. The oily sponge is a great addition and makes this a powerful all-in-one tool. I cannot remember if it came with instructions but as I said, I got the technique right after a couple of go's.If you're undecided, buy it! It's one of the best sharpeners you will get at this price, it takes up hardly any room (but is the right colour for it to stick out if you can't remember where you put it!) and once you've sharpened your various tools it will make the job of gardening that much quicker and less strenuous.

Pocket household sharpener with oiler.
Great household item to not be without. Good quality pocket-sized sharpener. Being brand you know sharpener will last as is quality. Has loop in end of handle....tie mine to handle of my garden bag so always handy and dont lose. Brilliant for sharpeneng anything especially keeping pruning shears sharp. End of handle unscrews with smalloil felt-dab inside so can dab oil on anytime too. Highly recommend over many others.

Small but mighty!
What a brilliant tool! What took me so long to purchase one?I've tried so many different things with mediocre results to sharpen my trusty garden tools. This tiny implement is so handy, small but mighty! A few glides and the edges are sharp - surprisingly so. So useful, so effortless to use and results every time. I recommend this to all. I might get one for the house for scissors etc. 5Stars!

Good for a while range of tools
This is an invaluable part of my gardening kit and I have even been able to revive a pair of shears that I thought were well past it. It is so easy to use and it really really works. I am a gardener so after a while I do blunt things but I just keep this with me at all times in work now. Hands down the best tool I have bought this year.

A useful garden tool
A little too small for my old hands to operate

Petit, pratique, fonctionnel

Works well
Smaller than I expected but does seem to work. Only time will tell how long it will last.
