First venture in to home automation
Reason i bought this was to turn the heated cat bed on and off remotely that i have for my outdoor cat house, before this i had to aim the traditional IR remote out of the conservatory window to the receiver and to be honest the range was poor and i would then have to look at the cctv cameras to see if the power light was actually on!Anyhow i got these yesterday and they sort of look quality but they appear to be that off -white low grade plastic and i would guess if i took one apart they might be typical Chinese scary electronics ,but saying that i got them set up, the hardest part was just getting them to blink which is the pairing mode, once i fathomed that out they all work great What i managed to do was get the Tuya app on my iPhone AND i had an old Amazon Fire TV box which i can speak in to the remote and control all three devices as well now, just sitting herefiguring out how to contol them from my MacBook and thats about itHonestly not sure what i would control with them but its something different,i am not sure how long they will last, like i said they have that Chinese feel to them ,also i did feedback to the manufacturer as the location it shows me to be at is several hundred miles adrift in the Atlantic and no matter what i do i cannot get it to sort itself and as of this morning no reply will update this review if anything strangehappens Lol

Automatic lighting and tv control
Now these are excellent but I made the mistake of trying them out at a friend’s house I was looking after when I first got them, and, although they were easy to set up, when I got back to my own home it was very difficult to persuade them to latch onto the new router. More difficult as I have a 5GHz router and complicated password which they don’t like. I managed to de-link their old master router and assign them to a separate non-5GHz part of the router with a simplified but still significant password. Very naughty not to be able to use non-basic characters in the password! Marked down for that. Not even the dash symbol! The TuyaSmart app is good with easy control and ability to do basic programming and linking them (light turns on at dusk, off at assigned time, everything turns off at assigned time, etc).Would love to connect my printer to one to save power but it requires a human touch press to turn on, not just a switch at the plug. Still thinking about that.

Good but let down by flakey set up process..
They're great when they work but they are fiddly to set up and insist on being in close proximity to your router to register so really need at least half or more of your wifi signal available for them to register, any less and they fail to register on the app. The other issue is when you unplug them and move them to another socket they go off-line on the app and there doesn't appear to be any way to "on line" them so you have to go through the process of adding them to the app again and of course if the socket you move them to is not close enough to the router then they fail to add...I give them 3 stars because when they work they're great but it loses 2 stars because ideally you want to have these in different locations in the house not all next to the router...They also work great with Alexa so that's another reason for the 3 stars.

When they work as billed.........
Lived with these for a couple of months now. Initially they were great and integrated with Alexa well. However, after a week or so started to fail to respond to Alexa and took two or three goes using the Tuya app to operate. Went round a did factory reset on all 6 units and started from scratch. All well and dandy for a couple of weeks then we were away for a few days and they reverted to Alexa reporting 'not responding'. Tuya support is absolutely useless - only available by email and no reply. There seems to be two issues in the background one is that the Tuya app doesn't switch it opens multiple instances which then means itdoesn't find each socket with all instances. The other is that integration with Alexa fails, possibly timing out on responding. When they work as billed excellent, sadly don't

Quick and easy to link up and to use. Once app installed can name plugs and set timers etc.

Devices are great; work as expected via the app
Devices are great; work as expected via the app, Google Home, Alexa or the IFTTT web site. These plugs have the bonus (over the similar TP-Link HS100 ones I have) that on IFTTT there is the option for them to be a trigger (the IF condition) so that if their state changes an action (the THEN part) can be fired against other IFTTT items (I use it to push a notification out to the Android phones so my Tasker can stay in sync even if someone else triggered the change - a bit of a niche feature for most folks probably but can be useful.)

Great WiFi plugs, without a hub
Great plugs, can be used with Tuya app or with Alexa. No hub needed, just WiFi. USB on side very handy and is always on even if plug/appliance is switched off. Great for charging phones.

Good at first ..... but .....
Worked perfectly out of the box - but two weeks in and now totally unresponsive- awaiting a response from the manufacturer. When ‘unresponsive’ they revert to nothing more than a manual on/off switch which defeats the reason for the purchase.
