I’ve used oilatum for a long time and it’s very good for skin and has a luxurious feel to it. However recently I’ve stopped buying it as it’s getting too expensive and I’ve found you can buy a much larger bottle of Sanex bath cream for a fraction of the price and despite not smelling and feeling as nice it leaves my skin just as soft and hydrated if not more.

My son was born in 2012 and had really bad eczema. This product was recommended by our dermatologist but was discontinued about 6 months after he was born. I started to do online shopping and just happened to type in the name of the product to see what would pop up and here it is!! this product is great for baths!! leave the warm water running and a cap full of the oilatum and my sons skin always came out nice and smooth. I love this product and would pay $30 for the bottle if i had to. A little goes a long way and this product defiantly delivers. if your child has problems with sensitive skin i would recommend this over any aveno product. i will be ordering again.

Our infant son developed a nasty case of eczema around three months. It started off around his legs and quickly spread in a matter of a few months it was almost every where. His groin and bum were spared thankfully. He scratched all the time and for those few months his hands were wrapped in socks to keep him from making things worse. Finally our family doctor said that it was time to consult a dermatologist, after exhausting most of the creams and ointments on the market. After seeing the dermatologist a couple of times and using their own Cliniderm cream, which was helping immensely but just wasn't quit getting it, he recommended Oilatum. We used it for two months after and his skin transformed. Last month we tried to buy some more and our local Walmart was out. We went to several different Walmart's , pharmacies and stores. We found out the product was listed as discontinued in some of the pharmacists data bases. That's when I hit the internet and found some here on Amazon. It's was shipped fast considering it's coming from the UK. It arrived in good condition and we can now return to treating our son's skin. Why you would discontinue such a product is beyond my understanding. Stiefel, the company that produces this product, was bought by a huge company called Glaxo Smith Kline in 2009. Recently they've transferred manufacturing of several products from their pharmaceutical division to their consumer based products division and apparently some of the products transferred are being evaluated for further production or not. This product seems to have been dropped. Large corporations protecting their bottom line don't care much about my son, but I do.
