Works well and a good value security upgrade
Was a little unsure about this, but it worked out well and happy with the result. Installing these has added some much needed security to an older up and over garage door and I’m much happier with the subtle look compared to a chunky block and drilling into the concrete floor.Installation is fine - it was a bit tricky to find a good location and get everything marked up, but manageable. I installed these upside down to fit my door - the pin needed to be as close to the front as possible to meet up with the fixed frame, but they work just as well this way.It wasn’t clear to me that the keys only work one way up as they seem the same at a glance - turns out there’s a dot on the key to indicate the direction.Used pop rivets for the key surround and permanent thread lock on the bolts before trimming them down.

These are great locks, providing extra security and peace of mind.
I've been using the Enfield version of these locks for years and have to say they have been really good. Recently (after 10 years of use) one of the locks jammed in the locked position - which was very difficult to fix seeing as I couldn't get into the garage. I'm putting the lock failure down to the fact water got into it and I hadn't oiled it enough. We eventually got it open but I needed to replace the lock fast. The Enfield versions didn't offer next day (or even 2 day) delivery so I thought I'd give the ASEC versions a try, seeing as they were available for next day express delivery.Sure enough, they arrived before 10am and were fitted to the garage by 11am. As these were replacing existing locks, I didn't need to do any drilling but even so, the drilling bit is pretty easy provided you measure up first. 5 holes per lock is what you need. 2 for each coach bolt, one for the lock hole, 1 for the shackle bolt to pass through the side of the garage door and 1 in the frame where the shackle bolt secures. If you want to fit the scutcheons, then you'll need to drill a further 2 small holes to secure it to the door with rivets or screws. For anyone replacing Enfield locks, the ASEC are identical in every way. The quality is the same, the size is the same and the bolts are the same distance apart. They are a direct swap. The keys on the ASEC do seem a little cheaper than the Enfield versions but they actually slide into the locks easier and encounter no resistance. I have had the Enfield keys twist and break on me a few times but those locks did seem stiffer to operate. For those reviewers saying they find it annoying that the keys can only go into the lock in one orientation, rather any of the four possible positions, you are right. However, each key has a dimple on the thumb piece which indicates the orientation the key needs to be in. The dimple needs to be on the upper side. The Enfield locks were the same and having the dimple takes away the guess work, even in the dark.As a testament to the locks, there were a lot of break ins in our area and on one occasion the entire row of garages were broken in to. The scallywags had jimmied every door open, taken what they wanted and set fire to the lot of them. The only garage to survive was mine. You could see where they had tried to bend the bottom of the door up but the locks had stopped them going higher than the shackle bolt. The police and fire investigator said that the locks had done their job and saved my garage and my car within. So, if you want to keep your garage door secure and protect the contents inside, fit a pair of these locks.

Quality item
These are decent were a pain to fit but I'm no good at DIY and my type of door was just a nightmare. These are good solid items though once there fitted the doors solid. Would highly recommend these if your looking for that extra security. Just remember to bolt them on the right way as I got it wrong first time and then had to refit them.

Garage door security bolt.
Unfortunately not the most robust product. After only a few weeks one of the security bolt internal mechanism jammed. To add insult to injury, the key also snapped off when trying to release the mechanism. Disappointing!

Possibly more suitable for wooden garage doors?
Excellent when fitted, but fitting on a steel garage door was a pain. Worth the extra security though.
