This reel has no reverse switch. I don't know why a reel would not have the capacity to backreel. I bought it assuming that there would, of course, be one. I didn't ever think about checking to see if there wouldn't be one. It's weird and very annoying. I only noticed the first time I used it so too late to send it back now. One hundred euro down the drain. I will, pointedly, never buy Penn again.

And the grippy rubber surface ensures that your line won't slip, giving you even more control over your catch.The 4 sealed stainless steel ball bearings and instant anti-reverse bearing make this reel ultra-smooth to use, and prevent any rotor back play that could cost you a hook-up. The reel arrived safely, and it comes packed in the usual Penn illustrated retail box.I’m quite an amateur fisherman at the moment and ive been using an old setup my friend gave me, I had no idea what I was missing out on once I swapped over to this reel, it’s so much better and nicer to use.The overall quality of the reel is excellent as it feels very well made, the metal body feels sturdy and durable yet lightweight at the same time, the bearings feel super smooth, and it definitely feels up the demanding job of saltwater fishing.The carbon fibre drag washers are very strong and really help give you a good amount of control when you’re fighting. Combine this with the instant anti-reverse bearings and you can turn the odds in your favour when fighting and trying to tire out larger fish.While the 4000 series is better suited to heavier deep-sea fishing it’s still perfectly fine for use in shallower waters with lighter weighing fish.Overall, I think this is an excellent quality, high performing saltwater reel which represents good value for money for what you are getting. It’s a product I’m more than happy to recommend and I feel it’s worth the full five stars, buy with total confidence!
