It's difficult to get too enthusiastic about a square of foam.. until you've walked a few hours on a Munro and been desperate to sit down but are unable to do so as the wet and mossy surface soaks immediately into your backside. It's not fun to sit on soaking wet mossy rocks, and it's not fun to continue your day with a drenched backside.But that's what it is, EVA foam, dimpled for grip and insulation. It has the advantage over inflatable seats that it'll never puncture, and it's cheap to replace. I'd say it's just over 1cm thick, the dimples increasing that a bit. Insulation-wise it certainly works. Warm & dry. The size is small, just big enough for a reasonable bum size but it's not for lounging out on. It's for a brief respite, not replacing a camping chair if you need one. I'll also be using it as a kneel pad in wet camping conditions. The concertina fold is very well thought-out, it seems to stay together quite nicely and doesn't fight to open up, if you use the back (black) side for wet & dirty surfaces it folds against itself meaning the outer (coloured) surface should remain dry and clean. It doesn't come with an elasticated band to keep it together, I stole one of my woman's hair bands for this job but it doesn't even really need one.I'm happy with it, at this price delighted. I can lash it to the outside of my rucksack and take a wee break here and there.Measured weight: 26 grams[This model is dispatched from China. Mine took almost a month to arrive so be wary of that.]

There are several sellers on this listing, so I'll mention that the pad I bought was a green one, under £1 from zunyao, this may not be exactly the same as the others . It weighs 26g, open it is 40cm by 27.5cm and 1cm thick , folded 27.5cm by 9.5cm and 4cm thick.The apparent thickness is increased by dimples (think eggbox !) which are pushed in and out , so when folded the 'in' dimples sit in the corresponding 'out' dimples , so the pad stays compactnwhen folded. The dimples do not really add extra thickness, as they compress when sat on, but the air gaps produced will add a little insulation. The foam is closed cell, so waterproof, and it really does add a little cushioning as well as keeping your posterior dry when sat on wet grass, or a fixed bench , steps etc.Fold it in half and slide it down the back of a soft rucsac to give a little cushioning between you and the contents, put it on top of your coolbag (it will add insulation) for your picnic , it's not luxuriously thick for extended use on , say, stone steps at an arena, but for the price and the weight it's brilliant.I'll suggest one improvement : make a hole near (but not too near, don't want to tear it) a corner, and thread a loop of cord through so you can tie it on to something to stop it blowing away in the wind !

This might be very useful for a visit to a statium or show maybe. Folds down small, is lightweight and does give some additional comfort and warmth. However, it is not very thick (buy two for extra comfort?), and I'm not convinced it will be very durable. I have seen much more expensive versions that might be a more permanent solution. For these, the material is similar to the plastic foam that you sometimes get in packaging around electrical goods and similar items. However, at this price, you can't really be stung - just get as much use as you can then dispose of it responsibly.

Bargain price for this sitter! Purchased for Guide camp but it didn't arrive in time-no problems as it will get used at the next one! Folds up and is comfy, what more could you want from a sitter! Paid a silly price for it, about 29p or something, be aware it comes from China though, so delivery takes a while!

This is a simple product with a roughend surface that may help it stay in place on sloping ground. I have used this mat as a spare so cannot accurately comment on the effectiveness of it. It was good value and should have a place in a walkers rucksack

Only recently arrived so can't testify to how durable it is but it looks like it should be good for a few adventures at least. Folds up neatly so can be stored easily and for the price .99p hard not to say it's value for money.

Used to insulate me from hard plastic and metal chairs used on the range at my shooting club. It does a great job and once folded takes up hardly any room in my bag. Wouldn't be without it.

light as a feather, folds neatly to fit easily into bag/backpack. Great value tho took an age to arrive. Bought it mainly for the football as in Winter my rear end gets very cold on those plastic seats! Just need to fid a way to fasten it to the seat so it doesn't fall off when we score and I leap up!
