Saddle Tramp

Saddle Tramp is one hell of an album. I remember when it came out in the mid 70's during the Country Rock craze. Charlie Daniels had just come off of the High Lonesome release, which some considered a let down to his previous Fire On The Mountain. Now, here comes Saddle Tramp ... an album that featured two songs that should be at the top of everyone's lists for quality music ... Saddle Tramp and It's My Life. Perhaps it was a sign that the Peace Movement was over and that we were taking charge of our lives. Perhaps it was still the revolutionary speaking inside of us that proclaimed, "We're living our lives the way we want, regardless of what you have to say about it." Perhaps, it was simply that it was a damn good song. It's My Life spoke deeply to many of us, and still does to this day. If you're looking for a feast for the ears, this album provides Country, Rock, Blues, Texas Swing, and just down home goodness in the songs you'll hear. I've had it on cassette, vinyl album, cd, and now mp3, and you can be sure that whatever the next format is, Saddle Tramp will always be there.

I bought this years ago in album form. Why? Because at that time I had people pressuring me on how to dress, who to have for friends and a host of other things to make me over into a sophisticated California girl---had just moved from a small town back east.I heard this on the radio in my car, drove straight to the record store and bought the album. Went right home and made my well meaning "roomies" sit down and LISTEN to the words to "It's MY LIFE". Best advice that anyone could give you-------and it didn't hurt that I LOVE the Blues and this is a great little blues number.Good music and I love that song so much I bought the CD too.

Great Charlie Daniels Music, takes you back in time when CDB was really big. Only drawback- album needs more songs, but price is great!

If you lived in Evergreen Colorado in the 70's I think you were required to own this album. It was one of those albums that everyone owned, everyone listened to. I purchased this album through Amazon on cd after having owned it on record, cassette, 8-track. When it arrived, I put it on and was in a time warp back to high school. Pickup trucks, warm beer, good times. There isn't a bad tune on this album. Start to finish, Charlie has the ability to paint a portrait of life in America through his songs that few artists can match. A very nice slice of Americana!

I'm one of those who miss the long jams so it was great to listen to this cd my favorite track is Saddle Tramp there's people that are not going to agree with the story but the song is tongue in cheek listen to it take it for what it is.

I was a big Charlie Daniels fan throughout the 70's, and Saddle Tramp was my faorite album (edging out Fire On The Mountain). The opus title track is definitive CDB, with a great jam session. "its my Life", Cumberland Mountain #9" and "Sweet Louisianna" are all outstanding songs. Only "Wichita Jail" is average. I wore out my vinyl, and am thrilled to have a clean, clear digital version.....BUY THIS
