Wilton 399-1010 Bamboo Dowel Rods for Cakes, Pack of 12, White, 30 x 1 x 1 cm

I used these rods for my photography exam and I made the photos stick out with the rod. At first I was scared they would be too thin and not strong enough to hold my photos in place. But they did the job and I’m very impressed. The only problem with them being so strong is that they are so hard to cut into pieces! I had to put a knife over it and use a Nutella jar to hit the knife and eventually break the stick!

I prefer these wooden dowels to the plastic hollow ones available. They are strong and give secure support to tiered cakes when correctly used. Cutting them to the correct length can be a bit of a faff, I usually get my husband to do this but for the support they provide it’s worth the effort.Lots of dowels in the pack which will last a long time.

Work well for stacking cakes bit as they are so thin I found it hard to cut them to size (too small for a saw and too big for scissors to cut).

Really nice sturdy wooden sticks - like a dowel rod and perfect for making wands for my daughter’s party. Great value on the ‘add on’ option and much nicer than I thought they might be. Saves me going to the diy store and cutting / sanding some dowel rods.

I decided I was going to make my own wedding cake on a whim after the quotes I was getting for a two-tier cake that needed to serve 16 people. From never having baked anything other than the odd sponge I gave myself 3 weeks to learn from watching videos on YouTube. After mastering the layer cake and buttercream I finally had to tier them, I hadn't even trialled doing it before my actual wedding cake do this was my first attempt and was proud of the result. The dowel rods were perfect, I used 5 in the bottom tier and placed the smaller tier on top, and it worked a treat. My cake was 5 inch and 7 inch.

I used these to make my three tier wedding cake I am a hobby baker. I am an adventurous person and had never made a three tier cake before, never mind wanting to make a heart stand up! I had never used dowels before. I found cutting to be tricky. But I found using a jigsaw was a much better way to cut them to size. The length was great for the size of the find tier and they stood perfectly in middle throughout the three rich fruit cake layers! Must admit I am pretty pleased with myself that I was able to do it and will definitely make more than one tier after tackling this cake and know that this is a product I can safely say I used and liked and would use again in the future!

Got these for my first wedding cake. They're really not easy to cut. Thankfully my man had really strong snippers as you'd struggle even with good scissors.Also, the wood splinters a bit when you cut it. Not really a fan of that in a cake. I'd stick with the plastic ones in future

It works very well. Although it is a bit pricey but well worth having your cake not topple over!
