EASY TO USE DE SAFETY RAZOR
I'm in my 50's,and up to now, I've never thought of using a double edge safety razor, to be honest, having seen my grandad and great grandad using them, i always thought that they would a bit more dangerous than disposables or cartridges razors, you know, more likely to cut yourself, but i was wrong.I have two different cartridge razors and a electric wet and dry shaver, but the price of the replacement cartridges for those is a bit of a joke, sick of paying £16 to £20 for those, so, after a bit of investigation into safety razors, i decided to buy this Edwin Jagger exclusive to amazon safety razor, and what a revelation, so pleased i did.On opening the box up, and putting the razor together, i thought that the handle was a little short, but it's not been a problem for me, i can hold onto it quite comfortably, i don't have small hands, but i don't have giant hands either.Onto the shaving, i decided to buy the whole kit, brush soap etc, i got Proraso shaving soap in a dish for sensitive skin, it had good reviews, anyway, with a little bit of trepidation, i soaped my face up and proceeded with the shaving, and what a revelation, no need to be nervous about using this razor, no pressing, just let the razor do the work, after the first pass, the shave was easily as good as a cartridge razor, gave my face another soaping, and went over again, and I've got to say it's the best shave I've ever had, no nicks or cuts, and a really close shave, absolutely no need for any worries on that front. And the price i paid for this was actually less than a pack of cartridge replacements. Yes, i know i will have to buy blades for this, but you can get 100 for a fraction of the price, and, they're easily recyclable, being as they're all metal. To add, i don't shave every day, 2 or 3 times a week, and i don't have coarse facial hair, so for me this razor is great, for others, i wouldn't know, but if you are looking for a first double edge safety razor, from my experience i would 100% recommend this, a nice size, nice weight, good looking, easy to use razor, well made.

In my mid40s this has changed the way I shave forever! Fantastic bit of kit
I wanted to get a few weeks of use before leaving a review, as I am new to DE Safety Razors. As a newbie I had some reading up to do: closed/ open combs, manufacturers, handle length etc.The Edwin Jagger had tonnes of glowing reviews and was stated as a good 1st razor. This "Kelvin" special Amazon edition with the knurled chrome handle looked really handsome and was super affordable.Installing a blade is really straightforward, and it came with 5 individual Derby blades which I get amazing shaves from. I would recommend checking out some YouTube videos like the GeoFatboy channel, for advice on angle to the skin, how best to prep your face, the whole idea of doing passes at different angles to deal with the hairs that grow at different angles. Was all new to me.The unit has a pleasant weight and the short handle makes it so easy to flip and maneuver. The knurling let's you get a nice grip. You dont press in with these, but let the weight of the head glide across the skin. Now in my 3rd week I am loving the results and grieing more confident and knowledgeable. I used to hate shaving, but now it's a wee quality time-out which I look forward to! And the results are like nothing I've ever experienced - super smooth. For me, this little beautiful instrument has been a game changer! I simply would not have believed the difference unless I'd bought it and researched technique on YouTube. It feels a million dollars afterwards. The Kelvin is a marvellous razor, beautifully made and even looks fantastic in the bathroom.

A great starter/try out safety razor - lasted me 3 years!
I decided to give "proper" wet-shaving a try back in early 2020 (accompanying the obligatory new facial hair), and plumped for this Safety Razor without too much thought, given the apparent value. As it's only just given up the ghost (thread gone) 3 years later and it's served me well, I think that's pretty good going!Pros:* Easy to use (though I can't speak for those who've never wet-shaved)* Easy to handle and manoeuvre - the smaller (7.5cm) handle turned out to be a surprising positive here. It also makes the razor a very easy traveller that goes in your sponge bag (obviously wrapped in something!) The knurling may be standard, but it's very effective. Never lost grip while shaving.* Safe during normal use - I hardly ever got any nicks except when rushing too much on angles.* Pretty easy care and looks good - in early days when I was more methodical about washing and drying it it shined up really nicely. Even when I became more lazy it looked OK - and it's really not difficult. Who knows? May have lasted even longer looked after better.* Easy to change or rotate blades. I can't compare with more advanced mechanisms like butterflies yet, but it's really not hard or dangerous given a little thought and care.Cons:* Quite tricky to clean out well during use, even with good water pressure on the tap flushing straight through it. There may be a technique, but my suspicion is that this is the down side of closed comb razors overall, unless they're quite expensive maybe.* Er, that's it!Definitely worth a punt in my opinion.I recommend getting a stand for it, as that clearly helped maintain it - I got the QShave Deluxe Chrome Razor and Brush Stand Holder (also Amazon).
