A great replacement for my old filter, quiet and powerful.

I have a juwel vision 260 4ft tank stocked with fancey goldfish. Start with the good, inlet and outlet fixings are decent quality and easy to put together. Performance is fantastic it keeps the water crystal clear, so far no leaks and build quality feels very good. Now for the bad, the included tray set up is about as useful as a chocolate tea pot, each tray has a fine pad and ethier biological or chemical media, so I followed filter pro advice and bottom tray has course, medium and fine, then middle and top tray has loads of biological media, with the correct set up I now get 0ppm on all of my test (4 year old alphagrog) 2nd issue is noise it's not loud to the point of annoying but it's not quite by any means. Last and biggest problem by a mile is this thing is an absolute pain in the ass to prime, my old canister was a couple of pumps on the primer after water changes job done, this thing hell no takes at least 10-15 mins of pumping, wobbling the unit left right back and forth it's absolutely infuriating, this thing has nearly been launched serveral times. Overall though you won't get an external this good this cheap so I put up with the priming issue due to it cost half as much as the equivalent fluval canister.

Easy to put together took me just 30 mins had to shorten hose ,that give it more power and makes it much faster to prime, people say it's noisy right it's important to give filter bit of a rock from side to side to get any air that's trapped in top half of filter makes big difference to noise lvl, the thing I did was watch YouTube vid on pimp my filter adding 3 sponges fine medium and corse at bottom tray, then bio media in all other baskets with a fine sponge on top this makes it even better..yes you do have to spend little more on media but it's really worth doing it from start I used seachems media and bio ultimate, filters running fine and I think it's quite.so all in all very happy

I don't have much to complain about on this to be honest, a couple of things I found was the initial priming button didn't work, husband had to suck the water through, got there in the end. There is no adjustment on how much water pressure is going into the tank like I've had on previous filters models.Handy clips on the bars to hold the tubes in place on the tank. Had enough tube length with it. For the price it's worth it.

Waited a few days to review, easy set up, to my jewel 250 l tank. Set up outside cabinet for now just to keep an eye on it. Read some comments about leaking and noise , to be honest the sound of running water, back into tank, is louder than the motor. Stood in a plastic storage box to to contain any leaking, but no sign of any leakages. One extra addition I added , a sponge cover over the outlet as worried about my fry and shrimps getting sucked up, pity they don't seem to supply these. My water has cleared. All in all I am very pleased and would recommended this filter.

This product is excellent. It is a good price, works well and is absolutely silent - I can't actually hear it at all.It is very easy to set up. It was easy to prime. The pipes easily and drip-lessly disconnect from the main pump for cleaning etc.The media was easy to clean before start up.It is a BIG pump, but the dimensions were correct and I was expecting this.Due to its size it looks to be amenable for using with different filter medium should you require this.Thumbs up - don't buy something that's 2-3x the price. I've had plenty of other brands in 20 years of fishkeeping. This will suit you absolutely fine for marine and freshwater set ups. I also like the inlet and outflow.... perhaps there could be a few different options for outflow though, but still, for the price-point this works very well.

I bought this as the earlier model of this I have suddenly started to leak from the top section and just before I was due to go on holiday too!. I needed a replacement quick and speed of delivery and cost being a factor this was the only one available that fitted that criteria. It's slighty larger than the previous model and with a more square profile. On opening up the canister the first thing I noticed was the larger size through openings to increase flow through the media, the only downside to this is that it now hold less filter media than the previous model..I know this as I just swapped the filter media from the old filter to this one and I couldn't fit it all in. I'd estimate this holds 2/3 of the amount of media compared to the previous model. A bonus is that the fittings etc are the same as the old model so I could use the existing pipework I had in place. On starting the Filter I noticed straight away it was noisy, very noisy compared to the previous model which was almost silent I did think maybe this was due to trapped air but after much priming , swearing and tea it was still the same. I did hope after it had 'bedded in' it might quieten down but sadly it hasn't.The box says new and improved design but with the decrease in filter capacity and massive increase in noise it's a step backwards. Hopefully it doesn't start to leak....UPDATE JULY 2018Now on the second replacement power head for this one as the first one started to leak!!, guess what?, this replacement has also just started to leak. Obviously a design fault...I won't be buying another AVOID!.
