Avoid like the plague
I have no idea who designed this product, in principal it looks great, but the connections for the wires are something that is out of the arc. Why they dont utilise the common place red and black style clips used on just about every other type of equipment I have not the faintest idea. No clear instructions for the laymen of what to do once the screw has been loosened so that the connection can be made correctly. A useless video on Youtube for a similar systems is no help, as the demonstrator goes from having no wires to fully wired, without actually showing how it was done. They did, however, pull the connectors from the unit, but without forcing them out, they dont seem to want move. The unit I bought from AV without the volume controls has the correct connectors, this unit certainly doesnt.Update: 10/21 Have connected one set of speakers and the volume to the unit obviously determined by the amplifier, however, it would appear the amplifier has to be turned to level 8/10 to even register on this unit, so the volume controls on the unit has 1-5 as silence, then you can hear from 6 upwards by turning up the amp. Thats OK you say, but on amps with A+B settings, it means the other speakers are blasting out... Not very good. So like I said at the start, avoid this item...

Its Good
Its early day yet but i honestly cant fault this audio matrix switch.I was a bit fearful about buying it because it was half the price of others. but i am glad did.I have now got total control over 4 different zones (audio) I have 2 sky boxes, 1 DVD player, and 1 CD player connected to my amp and the amp is connected to the matrix box and can have different sounds coming thru my speakers.I have total control over the volume to each set of speakers. The only con and its not really a con is the volume can only go up or down in steps,If you want to control the volume on different speakers the i can highly recommend this one.

Terminal problem
[[ASIN:B004D8RVQG 4 Pairs of 35w Ceiling Speakers with Amplifier, Speakers & 100m Cable]A good unit spoilt by too small terminals ,have you watched a telephone engineer working on a junction box in theStreet, this is the same nightmare you have wiring to the terminals on this otherwise well built good looking speakerwSwitch box,if you have monster cable you will never use them with this gadget! These terminals are really suitableOnly for bell wire, even one cm strand loose wire will shorten out your speakers,I managed to complete the jobWith amazon speaker cable ,stripping the ends of the cables very short, even then I got one or two rogue strandsThat you must deal with, the next size up in terminals would have given the unit full five stars and nil criticism.

Perfect accessory
For multi-room sound distribution this is ideal, especially if different speaker pairs require different volume settings to help maintain the same volume in several rooms. No separate power supply which means no unnecessary little function lamps which, in turn, means no extra unwanted costs (if you want bling you'd have to pay up to three times more and import from the US). The cable connects are a bit tiny and fiddly but once everything's hooked up it's secure, discreet and functional. And once set to the desired levels, the master volume control on your source output amp(s) keeps everything consistently balanced. Delivered promptly, well packed and includes a comprehensive range of pre-printed zone labels (if required) so you need never forget which volume control relates to which room / location.

Matrix Switch
This does a very good job of handling 4 pairs of speakers and 2 inputs, even with little stickers for the on/off button for each channel which can be used to show what room it relates to. Turning on the other speaker channels doesn't noticeably reduce the volumen of exisiting ones. However one important thing to note is that this is note a powered unit and will not really amplify the input.
