Well worth it for an electronics beginner!
This is the tiniest little box of electronic tricks ever! I bought this for my partner at Christmas who is learning basic electronics. For the price I expected a bigger box and I probably didn't read through the description properly. When a tiny mint box arrived - I thought I might have been conned. But when he opened it he was delighted with the contents - stuffed full of electronic projects including instructions and parts. They just happen to be small enough to fit inside a mint tin.

Well thought out and good introduction to electronics, but not for me
The kit is neatly presented in its own box with a good selection of components and projects. It is clear that money has been spent on developing the design and presentation. This is definitely a convenience product as you can start building circuits immediately. However, the kit is expensive when you consider what you could buy if you went into an electronics store and bought everything separately, although I can understand that this might be a bit daunting for a novice. It is worthwhile considering alternative approaches, such as buying one of the excellent books introducing electronics - for about £15 - and then spending some time rummaging through the component-bins in a high-street store or on-line. If you become hooked on electronics then you will soon grow out of this kit.

Good fun but extremely overpriced!
This was a very reluctant purchase. I have been dabbling in electronics for a few months and already have quite a collection of components to play with. I saw this set and thought it was a nice little kit to take away with me. I could tell that it was a tiny set from the photos and I was quite happy with that. The components included would also allow you to make a few circuits. All neatly packed away in a nice little tin. Perfect... until I saw the price, sorry but this is nowhere near worth £20+. Just over a tenner would be more realistic.I have, somewhat grudgingly, bought it and I am having quite a bit of fun with it. But then I knew exactly what I was buying, so I can't really complain about the price.A couple of problems I came across. Orientation of the transistor shown in the instruction booklet is incorrect on the Cookie Jar Alarm circuit (it's upside down). It took four attempts before I ended up building the circuit using the online schematic and discovered the error. Also, the tinned end of one of the 9v battery cable broke after a couple of days. An easy fix, but still an annoyance.Pros-Small, easy to carryEnough components to build a few circuitsCons-Overpriced for what you getNo room in the tin for the battery or instructionsNeeds more circuits to build. No additional circuits on their website! If your a beginner to electronics and are looking for something you can carry in a pocket and pull out during your lunchbreak, then this is ideal. Just make sure your happy with the extravagance of buying this though, as you could easily put together something similar by buying the items online at a fraction of the price.

Fantastic
I bought it as a Christmas present for my husband and he was playing with it constantly for the first 2 days, simply couldn't put it down. The instructions are very clear and well explained. Now I understand why it's for age 14+. The components are real size, not those oversize components aimed for kids. However, it's fun and very educational and has the potential to create your own projects once you understand the principles of electronics.I would highly recommend it.

Not worth the price
It is so tiny that its hardly worth it the board is just crap. The instruction book is just a joke.It is a waste of money. There are better alternatives.

Great toy for anyone who is interested in electronics.
Brilliant, I'm in my mid twenties and I loved it. I may have got through the booklets in only a few hours which was a little disappointing but I've now bought a proper introduction to electronics book and a bigger kit to learn more.

Nice kit, but does not do a crystal radio.
This kit came up in an Amazon search for 'Crystal Radio'. I wanted to build such a device with my children, so bought this kit. When it arrived I find it does not contain the correct components or instruction for a crystal radio. I am sure I will have fun, but this was not what I expected after Amazon listed this as a Crystal Radio kit.
