Catit Senses Food Maze

The cats took a look at this and wondered what was going on. When the biscuits went in they had a sniff and look. Then the bigger cat grabbed it, pulled it over it sort of twanged and threw biscuits all over, once they recovered from the shock they pigged out on the biscuits. After that they settled down to use the tower normally. The younger and smaller cat steadied herself and ate the biscuits out of the top until she couldn't reach them, the old cat tried that but his head was too big to fit the space and had to do it properly. The two cats have different methods for getting the biscuits out, but both methods are hugely entertaining to watch. It's so much fun to watch we have the tower in the living room in front of the telly, as they're usually more entertaining eating their biscuits than the offerings on the TV. On a practical note the tower is easy to assemble, it's easy to clean, and the cats like it. They seem to like the rubber pad round the base. The downside is large cats may struggle to get their head in the trough at the bottom, but they soon work out to use a paw to scoop the biscuits out onto the mat. The cats are much less messy with this than they were with a bowl and they only eat biscuits when they want some, and they have to work for it to get them. I am impressed with the simplicity of the product, and I believe the cats are very happy with their biscuit tower and the fun it provides for them in getting a treat to eat. UPDATE: Sadly due to divorce I no longer have my two cats, however, I am getting a new cat and given how impressed I was with this item the first time it was the very first thing I ordered for my new cat. The quality is excellent, the design simple, easy to clean, practical, and entertaining for the cat and for anyone watching the cat.

This is a really great item. I think the manufacturer has modified it since some of the reviews were written, as the one I received only had a narrow hole in the top so the cat can't eat the biscuits straight from the top, which seems to be the previous problem that resulted in many poor reviews. Mind you, there are 3 levels that you can put biscuits on, so if you do have an older version the simple solution is to just avoid using the top level! I bought this to encourage my cat to get a bit of excercise and not wolf his dinner down, as I'm trying to get him to lose some weight. When I first put it down for him, I put a few biscuits in the base tray to get him used to eating from it. After putting biscuits in the maze, it took him all of 10 seconds to figure out how to get the food out (he is very motivated when it comes to food). He is getting the excercise by moving round it to reach the food, and it's great entertainment for we humans. It's easy to put together and comes apart just as easily for cleaning. The middle level has a disc that turns so you can make the holes smaller that the biscuits have to fall through, thus increasing difficulty level. Mind you, if he can't get the biscuits to drop, Ginger does cheat a bit evry now and then by gripping the biscuits between his toes and pulling them through the sides. It's great fun to watch, and his face is a picture when he's looking for the fallen biscuit in the tray, but all he's done is knocked it down to the next level. From my own experience I cannot fault this item.

The idea is fantastic and stops our cats from eating their meals too fast as well as providing them with grazing and entertainment throughout the day. However, we found that one of our cats (who is really quite small, only 3.2kg) found a couple of design flaws: 1/ The hole at the top is large enough to stick his head through 2/ With the anti-slip mat on, due to a high centre of gravity and lightweight base, it was very easy to knock over. Without the slip mat it just kept skidding away from him and he couldn't get any food! However, with a few bits we had lying around, we solved these problems and even made the product continue to look nice! Our steps were: 1/ Glue the maze and base together 2/ Turn it upside down and fill the base with quick-dry cement (this is super cheap). Put a flat surface over the cement while it's wet and then quickly turn it all right-side up again so that the cement sets flat 3/ After the cement has begun to set, turn it upside down again and take off the surface so that the cement dries faster 4/ Get a decent size floor tile (we had a few left over from doing our shower room), place the maze on top (right side up!) and use clear or white mastic to seal the edges and fix the maze on the tile; this both made it look better and made it easier to protect our floor. Using mastic also meant that it's still really easy to keep clean, too. 5/ Put floor protectors on the bottom of the tile. That may sound over-the-top, but it only took about twenty minutes of my actual time and all the required pieces were super cheap. Most importantly, the cats love it and I can watch them use it and go "awwww"!

My 2 year old Ragdoll is an "only child" and I got this to entertain him as he started developing habits such as grooming excessively out of boredom which, unfortunately, leads to vomiting fur balls. Although he is not by himself for long periods of time, when I am working from home he needs to entertain himself. At first, he did not seem interested at all, even with the smell of his favourite treats. I tried to demonstrate how it works but he only seems to eat the treats when they come down to the feeder itself. He doesn't go near it otherwise. I found it to be a good sturdy appliance, has that grey bottom rubbery stand you can see in the picture which makes it stay in the same place. It is very easy to assemble and quite pleasant to look at, it matches the other cat-it toys. If your kittens/cats are a bit more curious they might explore it but my rag doll really isn't interested so you might want to hide some treats somewhere else and see whether your cat is able to discover where they are and retrieve them. And my rag doll does anything for a treat, including sitting down, giving paw etc!

I have two elderly rescue girls, who had never been outside before they came to live with me, and who I still don't entirely trust to allow outside unsupervised as they have little to no road sense and get lost easily. I am not happy keeping cats inside as they are designed to hunt and roam, and so I try to enrich their lives by providing them with puzzle feeders dotted around the house. They love their feeders, they love trying to work out how to use them, and they are so motivated by the reward of food and play, so it's wins all round. When I first bought this Catit Tower Feeder I assumed it was going to be too easy for them, and worried they'd lose interest in it quite quickly. How wrong I was! Yes, it didn't take them much effort or time to work out how to get the food out of it, and my larger cat (Maisie) quickly worked out that she could tip the whole thing over and roll it about and the treats would fall out pretty quickly. However, I resolved that by cutting a circular hole in the middle of a desk mat I had but didn't use, which fits snugly onto the base of the tower and weights it enough to prevent Maisie from tipping the whole thing over. It's easily removable for cleaning and looks a whole lot nicer than the grey rubbery base which is supplied. (If you're interested the desk pad I cut the hole in is, I think, the PLÖJA from Ikea, which costs about £5). Both my cats love this tower and spend hours hooking out tiny bits of food from all its crevices. It's a fabulous feeder, and I can recommend it.

Great size for maine coon paws

I bought this for my 7 year old stupid as you like cat!! she has an issue with weight gain and scoffing everything in sight as quickly as possible (down to her being a rescue cat and being severely underweight when found we think!) and then being hungry all day and constantly begging me for food 24/7. She loved her treat ball but often she would knock it into spaces i couldn't see or get to easily so it often didn't get filled up so when i saw this Catit maze eureka! Its really really easy to put together, easy to clean, well made and seems robust so far and my cat within 36 hours had mastered it and now she doesn't beg for food either, i can see she really enjoys the challenge too. The rubber mat is great as it doesn't slide at all on my lino floor and although she did tip it over once after an over enthusiastic battle with a stubborn cat biscuit it was an isolated event. If you have a cat who has a weight issue i cant recommend this maze enough. It great fun for humans too with cat watching and seeing their poor little minds working it all out, My cat is beyond stupid and she worked it out so if your wondering if your stupid little feline friend could cope go for it. Brilliant product might try the cat grass section next!

I work for a vets & wondered why this product wasn't available from any of our usual suppliers....having purchased it from Amazon now I know why! It just doesn't work! Its a shame as Catit Senses are usually very good products & I expected better from them. I have a 2.5 year old bengal & a 9 month old moggy, both very active & confirmed indoor cats, so exercise & stimulation are a priority. Plus lately the bengal has taken to bolting her food, leading to vomiting & this seemed a catch-all solution. Sadly the bengal just sat around the kitchen waiting for the kitten to knock the biscuits out then snaffled them...she wasn't going to demeen herself by working for her food! The kitten worked it out very quickly but wasn't interested in using it for regular food, only when treats were added. Also the gaping hole in the top provided easy access instead of going through the maze (easily fixed by putting a saucer over it, but a fairly major design flaw!). You can't actually put very much food in it in one go: had mine taken too it I wouldn't have been able to put 2 cats meals into it & would have had to keep topping it up. Its lightweight, flimsy & the wrong size in just about every dimension, but the most annoying feature is that the biscuits fall down into the shallow tray in great showers & just bounce out all over the floor. I'm returning it & going to try the Trixie Cat Activity Board instead. Here's hoping......
