Great Makita charging device & perfect for on-site too!
I've been using this charger/converter, sitting on a Makita 3Ah battery, for a few days now - charging Kindles, ipads, iphones and other powerbanks - using both outputs simultaneously, with no problems at all, and not needing to charge the Makita battery. I've not experienced any drop-outs, partial charging or any of the problems that other people seem to have had with their devices. Though I did have a chargeable head torch stop charging - but that was because it was getting too warm for it's own good and so it shut down until it was cool enough to carry on charging... so it would seem that the outputs on this device are powerful and continuous - depending on the quality of the battery feeding it obviously... The one little niggle is the quality of the power switch on the device - which is a bit 'Mickey Mouse'... but this is a genuine piece of Makita kit - and I've had no problem with their kit in 30 years... What I have found to be really useful is that I can charge the one Makita battery and use this charger for a couple of days - charging two phones, an ipad and a Kindle fully over those two days, without needing to keep all of the individual chargers plugged in and drawing their combined power over those days - which might mean that this device might pay for itself over a year!

Useful addition to the 'box
This is a really handy gadget to have in the van for those times that i need to charge my phone. Clips on my belt, although it is quite cumbersome once I put a 5Ah battery on it. Would be more practical with a 2Ah battery on. I usually just leave it charging on the side or in the van while I work. Great bit of kit for any Makita user. Recommended

Great addition to your tool kit.
This only makes sense if you already have Makita tools and some 18V batteries. But once you do, then you get a fantastic charging port for two devices. It is really well made, although the on/off switch is a little vague as previous reviewers have commented on. The main score for me is I am never going to lose this. As it runs off a Makita battery (pricey) and you need that for your tools, you will never accidentally leave this on site. With another kind of powerpack I often mislaid them, but not with this one. I stick the spare battery in my rucksack, tuck my phone in to charge. As charging a phone draws so little current compared to an SDS drill or circular saw, these won't dent your battery life at all. So you can charge using a fresh batter and swap it onto your tool when needed. Or if you have a battery which is nearly dead, you can swap the USB adapter onto that to get the last juice out of that and into your phone. The price is not cheap, but with Makita you get what you pay for, and always having a charged phone on site is easily worth 16 notes.

Works as it should
Very happy with 18v Marita charger, great addition on site / in vehicle / off shore / anywhere you might need a usb charger really. Works as it should, the only nice to have additions to the product would be l.e.d. indicators to show what it is doing when but to be honest it’s simplicity it probably one of its strengths (keep it simple). The only things that change how it works are what battery you connect up to it but using my 3aH worked a treat and seems to use very little charge out of it!

Just damn convenient
This is a good adaptor which I use to charge both my phone and tablet. However there are improvements which Makita will need to look at for future versions. The power cuts out intermittently so you leave your devices charging and in some instances when you come back to your devices, the devices are no longer being charged. If you are charging two devices, pull one usb cable out of the adaptor and then insert it back in again and hey presto both devices are charging again. I guess the circuit board hasn't been fully tested to charge 2 devices simultaneously before Makita decided to use it in their adaptor. I have 2 adaptors and the same behaviour occurs on both so I'm making the assumption that this isn't a one off problem although it could be a batch problem. Even though the negative point above is annoying, overall I'm still happy with the product as it's just damn convenient. It only takes 20 odd minutes to fully charge a 3AH battery which is far quicker than charging the regular type of portable batteries. The output current of each USB port is 2.1A so it's quick charging. The current of my USB port in my car is only 1A so I prefer to charge my devices in my car with a Makita battery. When I stay somewhere overnight I no longer have to remember to take my regular phone/tablet 240V chargers or portable batteries as I always have Makita batteries in the car so the adaptors have become the main method I use to charge my phone and tablet. I looked at the cheaper non-Makita branded versions of this adaptor but I choose to purchase the Makita one because both ports output 2.1A and there is a rubber flap which protects the usb ports from the elements when not in use.

Usually I will leave my Makita Impact driver and air pump inside my car for emergency tire change when i am not doing any DIY, Now with this, I am able to use it as a power bank for my USB fan, mobile and lighting during my car camping for a small amount of investment. Real worth !
