My great nephew loves this book!
I bought this for my 3 year old great nephew to give to him on my recent five night visit. This was the only book he wanted to 'read' with me during my entire stay! He loved lifting all the flaps to see the inner workings of cars, household water systems, bicycles etc etc. He found every single page fascinating and had loads of questions! I knew it would be a hit but it surpassed even my expectations!Just a point to note ...the flaps are very well 'fastened' down and we nearly tore the first one we opened so, safely away from the small boy of course, I took a knife to the flaps to loosen them in order to proceed with all the others.

Works for my grandson!
Superb book which captures my three year old grandson's attention more than any other book he has owned fiction or non-fiction. He is fascinated by the pictures flaps and texts when read to him. The perfect book for any young child with an "engineering" bias. My grandson is enthralled by the mechanics of everyday objects and means of transport so this could not be more up his street. He talks endlessly about fans, cogs, pistons, overflows etc etc. There are plenty of flaps to open which young children will always enjoy and seem reasonable resistant to tearing. This book is exceptionally good value; I am delighted to have bought it for a little boy who is always asking why something works the way it does. Ingenious book worth far more than the price at which sold. I think it will be the firm favourite for a long time. Scores highly as a learning resource and provider of enjoyment.

Great fun, entertaining book
I love usborne books and this one does not disappoint. My 3 1/2 yrs son got it for Christmas and it was the hit of the day. There is so much to look at and learn about, and the level of content will be useful to him for years to come. Presentation is exciting and engaging, with so many flaps to lift that it took several read throughs to find them all! This book has been so popular that we have bought it as a present for several children, all of whom loved it.(3 years later) I’m updating this review to say that yes, he still loves it and is still asking me to let him look in the cistern of our toilet! I think we are raising a plumber:-)

Interesting book
Although I haven’t given it to my grandson yet (Xmas) looking through it it looks really interesting and clear .. my grandson (4) will like looking through these pages as he loves anything mechanical , construction , wheels and how they work .. 🤞🏻 and we’ll see after Christmas 👍🏻👎🏻

Surprised
I have given this 5 stars because it is a very sturdy card like book. When it arrived I was surprised that it seemed effectively a card type of book usually give to a young child, however when I saw what the book did I soon realised why it had been constructed this was. It has lots of flaps to open and my grandson who is 8 loves it. He is always asking why or how do thing happen or work and he was delighted in the way this book, by the use of flaps explained things to him. At the moment he doesn't seem very interested in reading but this is one book that he is constantly picking up and telling us what the book says. Well done Usborne

I finally understand how things work
Love these books, as they play nicely into kid's curiosity and there is a high educational aspect as well. Our kids are 5 and 8 -years old and they both like them. This one is more liked by our 5 year old son, some of the more serious historical ones are more liked by his 8 year old sister. Some of our 'See Inside' books have been read hundreds of times. The only draw back is that we got almost all of them now and the collection takes up quite a bit of space. Moreover this particular one we already had.. so had to return.

Perfect book for 3-5 years old
I bought that book for my 2.3 years old boy. It is very cool book, it is a bit early for him but still he enjoys pictures of different machines, but by age of 3 I guess it will became his favourite book. It is very good, I think it will be interesting until age 5-6 years. Best book for young kid. For toddlers a bit advanced.
