Excellent for Overclocking
I'm overclocking at 4.8ghz (hitting 72c max temp under artificial load for an hour with a Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo) and I couldn't be happier with this processor for an upgrade over my Pentium G3258. It of course came along with the upgrade to an LGA 1151 motherboard and DDR4 RAM, but it was definitely worth the cost. I'm using a GTX 970 with this processor until I can save enough up for an upgrade, and I'm getting very respectable framerates (I shoot for at least 60 and can get this on all of my games). This isn't massively relevant to the processor though since it's mostly tied to the performance of my GPU, but the point is you shouldn't be experiencing a bottleneck if you're using a single GPU with this processor. It's probably not worth getting this chip as an upgrade to Skylake, and you can save yourself a further twenty quid if you aren't overclocking. However if you do decide to go with an unlocked chip you can't do much better than this at the moment if you're building a PC with gaming in mind (especially in terms of cost to performance with i7s coming in at quite a bit more expensive for what really are diminishing returns in regard to frames per second). The chip didn't come with a stock cooler, which I didn't miss and doesn't necessarily make the most sense since it's unlocked and you should really be using an after-market cooler to take advantage of that anyway, but if you wanted another stock cooler to add to your collection you will be missing out.Don't forget to be careful with your mobo since Kaby Lakes might not work out of the box on certain motherboards, and to overclock you'll really need a Z270 or Z170 (if you can get a BIOS update, which you do need a working processor for first or to have faith that the manufacturer/seller has done that for you already).I'd say you're getting pretty good value with this processor, and it's pretty ideal for a gaming PC!

Brilliant Multipurpose CPU
So I upgraded from an i5 6600k and the main reason was some games were bottlenecking on CPU and rendering them unplayable. (Games like the Call of Duty Blackout mode). I also stream in which my CPU heavily bottlenecks at 100% and games are not even worth playing. The i7 7700k has 4 more threads on them so I was advised this would be ideal. Since installing it, wow... My GPU is performing better than it was, as I read online it was potentially bottling my GPU too by around 20%. I have no audio stuttering from lack of CPU and overall is a brilliant processor.Runs slightly hotter than my last but only by around 6 degrees and sits around 38 - 43 Celsius.Worthwhile purchase and my stream viewers (all 20 of them, I'm not a big streamer) have said over the last few days they find a much clearer stream but most of all audio is brilliant for them now.

Upgrading from a very capable i3-4150 due to unexpectedly having a budget for doing so.I have found much improved performance in most area's.Programs that I use regularly include MatLab, Visual Studio, Photoshop and also some Gaming use. I would consider that these would be the most challenging things that I would be throwing at this and it is a siginificant improvement in terms of speed than the previous chip even though their clock speeds are similiar. The additional cores and decreased power consumption seem, along with the newer architecture, to contribute to a much more powerful feeling machine.

Very good gaming CPU, Can struggle on desktop orientated programs
Really good CPU, even without the hyper threading that most CPU's come with in today's market this CPU will smash through gaming on the newest triple A titles, although due to its lack of threads it can struggle on some desktop orientated applications such as large file transfers and background programs, all around a very good CPU as-long as you keep an eye on your background applications

It should be good for gaming
Used this in my second home computer, kind of a media server. Slightly overkill but I'll keep it until it's life end. Encoding seems quick enough for me, and other than that I never out perform it's power. It should be good for gaming, but I've got a separate rig for that.. I could use this as a future back up however. It's expensive, but worth it in my opinion.

Intel Core i5-7600k Review
It's an i5-6600k, but better in both temps and clock speeds, at the same price (at the time of my purchase). It's a no-brainer.Though do take note that to make the most of Kaby Lake's new features and the unlocked processor, you'll need a Z270 motherboard. It's backwards compatible with Z170 and other Sky Lake motherboards but the motherboard BIOS will need to have the latest update with Kaby Lake support. I also don't recommend anyone to upgrade to this from a Sky Lake or Haswell/Broadwell i5/i7 unless you're experiencing bottlenecking as the improvement may not be worth it. Also, if possible, I'd recommend waiting for AMD Ryzen CPUs to come out so you can compare fairly and not regret getting Kaby Lake too early (I had to get it early because birthdays exist).TL;DR wait for Ryzen if you can and do your research, if you're going for a new build and can't wait for AMD Ryzen or dislike AMD or are upgrading from an old system, then I couldn't recommend this CPU more.

Chip off the old block.
I bought this 4 core Intel 4.2G to change from a 4 core AMD 4.2G.I was very nervous because it doesn't look from the specs to be any improvement.Believe me it's night and day different. All the stuff that AMD couldn't run now flies along. AMD claims are so fanciful. All speeds are not equal. It was well worth all the extra work and expense of changing the M/B, memory and CPU away from AMD.This chip from Amazon was the best price I could find anywhere.
