It works - 3rd attempt at buying one of these.
Third time lucky, i have tried 2 other brands which were rated sufficient to run a 12v 10 amp pump for an SUP, I fortunately the first wasn’t sufficient to power the pump. The second was defective on arrival and didn’t even turn on.This one works straight out the box, it it smaller then the other two and appears to be built more robust and what you would expect for an EC or Uk complaint electrical component. The other two were a bit more cheaply produced and dubious.Time will tell off it stands up to use, my old one of a different manufacturer was over 20 years old before it failed, hopefully this one will last a good amount of time also. Time will tell. For now, it’s working which is better than the other ones I found on Amazon.

Sufficient power
I use it to drive my 12v tyre pump and it works fine as stated

Works well. Good value.
I use this to power a tyre inflator and it works fine.It feels well built. I can't comment on the internal electronics.Reasons I didn't give it 5 stars:The 12v cigar-lighter socket is smooth bore, so as some others have commented, the plug on the appliance you are powering can slip out if it is under any strain. As long as you make sure it is pushed well home, then it is fine. I'd have liked to see a socket with ridges for the plug springs to grip on.The lights indicating mains-in and 12v load work as described in the manual, but the symbols moulded into the device next to the lights seem backwards, a battery next to the mains-in light and a sine wave next to the load light. I think they have used the same case for this device and one that goes from 12v input to mains 240v output. Makes no difference to the operation, so not really important, just confusing if you don't read the manual.Overall a good useful buy.

Just the thing
The perfect accessory for the car tyre inflator and works really well.

A really useful accessory.
During the coronavirus lock-down my car wasn't used for several weeks and when I eventually decided to give it a short run the battery was flat. I own a 'Metro jump start', a useful item which slowly recharges the battery via the car's cigar-lighter socket. (There are similar items available from Amazon). It requires a connection to another car's cigar-lighter socket in order to draw the charging current. Under the lock-down that was not possible so I wondered whether there was such a thing as an adaptor which converts mains power to 12 volt DC. Amazon came to the rescue. I chose this particular model as it matched the cigar-lighter socket rating of up to 120 watts. It did the job brilliantly and I was delighted - the battery was slowly charged and the car started first-time.I also have an air-compressor which works from a 12V cigar-lighter socket - I used the converter to power it as well and it made the job of checking the tyres very straightforward.I would definitely recommend the RoyPow voltage converter.

150W AC to DC converter at 10A
I've been trawling the Internet for some considerable time to find a power converter that is capable of powering my air compressor. After much browsing, I came across this product. To the best of my knowledge, at this size, this is the only AC to DC converter that is powerful enough to supply 120W (150W max) power at 10A. The female lighter socket can also be used to power air compressors, car refrigerators, car cleaners, tyre inflators and other DC appliances.I purchased the Ring RAC900 Heavy Duty Tyre Inflator. This is a fantastic little compressor which is capable of inflating any size car tyre including truck tyres in very little time. It is available on Amazon, refer to link: [...]The only issue is that the compressor will only work when it is hooked-up directly to the car battery. It will not work via standard car cigarette lighter socket. A regular car socket cannot deliver enough current to power the compressor for continuous operation. After purchasing the RoyPow power converter I also bought a cigarette lighter socket extension cable which was rated to 15A i.e. the maximum power of the converter. The extension cable is also available on Amazon, link: [...]At this point I had all the necessary tools to do the modification. I hard wired a set of cables from the compressor 12v battery clips to the car socket cable so that the compressor could be powered via standard 3 pin home plug. It worked a treat. Now I can use my compressor for inflating air beds, swimming pools etc directly from a wall socket using my existing heavy duty air compressor.I purchased this item at full price. If the product is unworthy of a good review, I think it is unfair to leave positive feedback as this can mislead potential buyers. I hope you found the review helpful. [...]

Suspect quality
I got this as part of a kit with the tyre inflator. The inflator is decent. This part... not so much.1. The part you insert "the other device" into is a loose fit.2. Worse is that the metal plating inside the receiver is very thin and the inserted part is always a pointed metal end, so it quickly wears away the coating. The 2 things above mean that after a while, you don't easily get a connection with power flowing. You end up having to jiggle it around until you get it going (and hope that the vibration of whatever tool you're using doesn't jiggle it out again, which happens a lot with a tyre inflator). It could do with a bit less cost-saving in manufacture to get a higher quality product that will stand the test of time a bit better.P.S. Amazon: the sub-categories for review don't make sense for this item... warmth? Thickness? And... "for working out" (unless that's for running around your driveway, hopping mad at the thing not doing what it should).
