I'm Won Over to This New Potting Mix
I've been using this Cactus potting mix for nine months now and I'm a complete convert.I'm an old gardener with old-fashioned methods and I was frankly suspicious when this item arrived. I have always been used to growing cacti and succulents in, basically, a pot of sand and grit. This mix does contain sand and grit as well as loam and peat (not derived from threatened areas). It is light and loamy in appearance. I soon discovered that you need to water from the top, or if you prefer to soak them be sure to water the top first and don't fill the sink higher than the top of the pot - otherwise, at least at first, the whole lot floats away.In spite of my original concerns, my cacti and succulent collection has been transformed - healthy, sustainable growth and in many cases, flowers have been the result. The mixture does not develop mould or attract pests. I'm using it for plants with a fleshy leaf such as Mother-in-Law's tongue and Winter cactus as well as true succulents. The clear, well-designed pack is opened by simply cutting across the top - quite accessible for those with a visual disability.

Happy Sansevieria
Great stuff. My husband's cacti are thriving after re-potting in this specialist mix. In fact, many have flowered for the first time in years. I have also used it for re-planting my Sansevieria (also known as snake plant or mother-in-law's tongue) and despite the fact that it is neither a cactus or a succulent, its growth really seems to have accelerated with new shoots coming up quite soon after re-potting. I guess it is all down to the nutrient content and the fact that it supports good root growth as a result of being free draining. As some of the comments state, this mix does contain fine grit but I have also used glass chips on top of the compost which not only looks decorative but further supports drainage and makes watering less messy. We have already worked our way through three bags of this stuff in my household and I am sure that we will be purchasing it again.

Pricey but good product
despite what many reviews say, the bag is small but it is actually 2 liters, as it is stated in the description (and on the packaging). The liters are a measure of the VOLUME, hence the weight of a liter depends on the material that you're measuring. 1lt of water is indeed 1kg, but 1lt of this product has obviously a different weight...after this said, 2 liters are a very small amount of soil indeed, and at this price it's nearly a robbery... I bought it only because I wanted it delivered the day after with Prime, and other similar products would take longer.the product is of good quality though, I was already familiar with this brand/type and I can recommend it. I would suggest to mix it with a bit of some other fast-draining compost which is rich on organic material and less sandy.

Good quality, useful small bags.
I've used this type of compost before so know it's good. Bought two x 2L bags for a long "Cactus garden" trough I have made for a window sill. The bags are a useful size, easy to handle and store, plus once opened you don't end up with a massive bag of opened compost which will dry out or even go mouldy. You tend to use most or all of the bag when using this size. May work out a bit more expensive but I prefer this size. I'm adding a fine layer of top finishing grit/chippings to keep in moisture and enhance appearance. Previous cuttings and Cactus plants have thrived in this compost.

Pefect drainage soil for succulents and cactus.
Pefect soil for succulents and cactus. Great drainage for your plants. They are much happier in their concrete pots with this mix soil. I thought at the beggining this product was a little bit pricy (£1 or £2 more) comparing with other product BUT it's worth it, as it offers you the best ratio between water retention for our plants needs and drainage also crucial for our plants development and avoid rotting.Previous product: succulents and cactus blue package with orange label very famous brand, you find it in all plant stores here in the UK. Good but this one is better in my own experience.
