Yes it is water soluble (but my hair still feels a bit greasy afterwards). This product feels very light to the touch but it actually feels rather heavy in my hair. The consistency is more like a creamy butter not a creamy toothpaste but if you prefer a natural loose hair style it'll work great.

Is it any good for long hair?

Bought this for my son and his hair is just below the jawline he loves it but if your hair is really long I’m not sure.
