I finally get it! I'm almost 40 & this ...
I finally get it! I'm almost 40 & this book simplifies it so well that I am now able to help my students and children. Being present is something easier to understand when you're older but still hard to practice. Getting it and practicing it when you're younger is so valuableand sets the tone for the rest of your life. This book has helped me calm myself as a parent of two toddlers when tantrums are at their height, demonstrating for them what and how. I've used the examples from the book withy high school students to help them manage stress and find calm. I didn't read it to them but adapted the simplicity of the principal. I've used this book's simplicity to help manage add/adhd in myself to help gain focus. It's a must read for anyone of any age who is trying to get themselves together!

or...Pay attention to the world around you....
A wonderful book which lets kids not only think 'outside of their box' but lets them know WHY they need to do so. Uses various other uses for the word 'present' to assist in the description of a philosophical question which is sometimes difficult to fully explain to kids. A GREAT story book and read/re-read for kids who have trouble paying attention, or those who seem to be overly careless at times. This book has tremendously helped one of my students with ADD......instead of me having to bring him back to task, he's now reminding himself - saying 'oh, wait... I need to get back in the moment and be present.'....or even a chance for him to let me know 'I'm having trouble staying present today' so we can work together to keep him focused. This is now a permanent addition to my school library.

Great Book for Todays Parents
This book really should be listed as a self-help book for parents. Young kids already live in the present. This is for all the parents who spend the entirety of their kids' soccer games looking at their phone. It's for the parents who hand their kids the iPad when they walk into the grocery store instead of helping them enjoy the experience. It's for the rushed parents who are always making their kids hurry to get to the next activity. Kids don't need this book. Parents need this book so that we don't turn our kids into even sadder versions of ourselves.

Simply Amazing!
I'm an avid mediator. Now that my children are getting to an age where they are becoming curious about what I'm doing when I mediate, this book gives them great insight into both what it is that I am doing, plus a wonderful story about why I take the time to mediate each day, as well as an enchanting, and a beautiful illustration of the value in presence, while teaching about how to achieve presence in mind and peacefulnessI highly recommend this book to anyone who has or teaches children. It could also be used to learn about presence and mindfulness together!Wishing you well!

A lesson on presence or morality? If only the Author knew..
The book provides for a succint and practical explanation of presence, where it faulters is in those pages that have little to do with presence and everything to do with virtue signalling or alterior morality. If the book stuck to presence, rather than diverging it would have been great.

Great story about the importance of being present
I read this story to the grad sevens in my school. It led to a great discussion about the word present. Highly recommend!
