Fascinating, intimate glimpse into Paul and Julia's postwar lives ...
Fascinating, intimate glimpse into Paul and Julia's postwar lives in France. Stunning photographs and compelling text.I wish I had been able to be in Paris in 1949, but Paul Child's photos of everyday life and working Parisians made mefeel as if I had been there.

Wonderful and nostalgic
The author did a superb job; the photos are a lovely & nostalgic portrayal of the Childs and the write-up is really interesting. A thoroughly enjoyable book!

Paul Child’s Black and Whites lead thé story of his early years with Julia in Paris
An article about this book captured my attention with black and white photographs of Julia Child in Paris from 1948-1953 (and later in Marseille). I purchased the book in spite of the fact I have no deep appreciation for photography. Neither am I a fanatical fan of Julia Child, although I did learn from her early PBS programs and still own a Pyrex baking dish that I bought at a local hardware store based on her recommendation, some 40 plus years ago. The book arrived at my door this afternoon and I have already completely enjoyed Paul Child’s photos of Paris, which resonate today. Also, the description of the Child’s relationship as a couple exploring Paris, developing their own talents, and supporting each other’s interests contributes added depth to the photographic story.

Truly A Feast For The Eyes!
I can never adequately explain my obsession with Julia Child or my fascination with Paul Child, and it's neither here nor there... However, this gorgeous book is a (must have) gem. Truly a feast for the eyes ! Bravo! Long overdue!

Great Gift for Julia Child Fans!
I have admired Paul Child's photography for many years, and this is the first anthology of his work that I've seen. The reproductions are beautiful and the writing is top notch. A must for any Julia Child fans.

Amazing photography
I was very impressed with the photos from the 40 and 50s he took. Apparently he used a Rolleicord twin lens camera, with medium format film and got amazing image quality. I,m sure the negatives have been recently scanned and printed so some credit goes to the current film editing. Most importantly he captured the post war period on film

Long Awaited -- the Photography of Paul Child
Having always read about Julia Child, I learned long ago that she was inseparable from her very clever and artistic husband, Paul. But he was always spoken about and one never saw any of his paintings or photos in the Julia Child books and I was always very curious so as soon as I saw that this book had been published, I had to order. This is a very wonderful art book and through this, you see why they were such a great team, both lovers of food and good wines, art, music, and surrounding themselves with interesting people. A delight to see.

Paltry Feast
If it weren't for Julia Child's later life fame, this book would never have been produced for her husband's photographs, which seemed pretty mediocre to me. I gave my copy to the used book store of the local library. Don't spend money on it, get it from the library.
