The authors have no axe to grind and one of the authors has been shouting from rooftops for a long time about the need to set our pharma industry in order. The recent death of about 70 children in Gambia, due to an adulterated cough syrup manufactured in India confirms the central thesis of the book. Deep rooted corruption, the kafkaeque nature of the working of Indian regulatory agencies, appointment of medicore people to senstive positions etc., have rendered Indian pharma companies as one of the most toxic industries (literally and figuratively). However critical drug regulation is, it does not figure in our daily narrative and has been relegated to dark corners. The book lays bare the hidden working of it and sheds light on the process.
